Re: Brett Smith > Taylor Martinez
I think I will say one final thing about this Smith-Martinez, Smith has excellent accuracy, arm strength, QB smarts, and EXCEPTIONAL elusiveness/time buying skills ( I was very impressed ). He has a bright future ahead of him and wish him the best. But I would still take Taylor for a couple of reas...

Re: Smith mic'd up video
Haha that's awesome. "throw him open" is actually a term though. It means to throw the ball to a spot that pulls the receiver away from the defender. For example, a back shoulder throw would be throwing someone open. The guys is covered, but by throwing it behind him it pulls him off the d...

Re: What intro song do you want to use next season?
I know this won't be most of your guys' cup of tea, but I always thought the THE INTRO to this song, not the rest, it loses me after the intro, but I always thought the intro would be a cool song to a highlight vid montage, hell it would get me juiced running out of the tunnel with fog an poop. Plus...

Re: Brett Smith #3 NFL QB Prospect
You only need to be able to throw the ball 60 yards to be successful. The perfect deep ball should hit the receiver anywhere from 45-55 yards in stride downfield. B Smitty can do that. Very rarely are you going to be asked to throw it longer than that (besides a hail mary, etc.). If everyone is doin...

Re: And so it begins...
If our defense hasn't improved, then our overall record can't improve. That's what it all comes down to. At the end of the day it doesn't matter that you scored 56 points if the other team scored 63. Smiths a stud. He'll carry the load offensively, and HOPEFULLY will have a little more help this yea...

Re: Starting QB job open for competition
Not a top 15 QB?.. He finished in the top 10-15 in multiple statistical categories last year.. He also has the greatest awareness I have ever seen in an underclassman QB. Re-watch the games, he feels the rush better than anyone I have seen in a long time, at any level. But I wouldn't expect you to p...

Re: Boise Staying In Conference
As long as Smith is on the field anything can happen against anyone on our schedule, and I firmly believe that. With that being said I am more than worried about our defense, and worried about our offensive line.. While I'm at it I'm concerned about our running game as well haha.

Re: Smith for Heisman in 2013?
Smith did play about half the season/still put up the numbers he did with a thumb that hardly worked on his throwing hand his freshman year. Manziel was healthy the entire year. You can't discount the kid for playing in a weaker conference. He has no control over that. Besides most of us have alread...

Re: All MWC Teams
Yea I didn't mean anything negative by anything I said. I understand Carr being selected 1st team, and I can see arguments for why Fajardo was selected 2nd, but I still think Smith got snubbed. Smith should've gotten 2nd and I don't think any argument could change my mind on that. Smith went head to...

Re: All MWC Teams
Hurt half the season? He only missed two games. I dunno man. I can't find another player in the entire country that means more to his team than Brett does for the Pokes. That's something you have to take a look at when making decisions like who is all-league. He only had 1 game this season under a 1...

Love the "Goldrush" concept/idea. That would be awesome if we did something like that.fromolwyoming wrote:I did like the brown helmets with gold steamboat. Just wish we could get a shiny gold helmet and unis to go with it for a "Goldrush", you know?

Forehead Slap
I just read on some ignorance on GoWyoGo about how Smith has "checked out" and "quit on the team" because of his demeanor during the game. Give the kid a break. Two weeks ago he gets thrown out of a game, and people accuse him of being too fiery/emotional, and not being able to k...

Re: Brett's Situation
There's a difference between playing timid and playing smart. The statement by djm19 about him sliding sounds right to me, if we are in that game at the time that run happens, and we needed that first down to keep the drive alive in order to tie up the game or something my money says Smith wouldn't ...

I saw someone say "Russell Wilson: The first quarterback to ever throw a game-winning interception." That made me a laugh.

Re: Most impressive thing about our offense with Brett
I tried to say a couple times during the off season that we should wait until we see him throw after the surgery when some people were questioning his arm strength. I remembered seeing his high school highlight vid when he committed and he threw the ball with a lot of zip, and also threw the deep ba...
