Each game he has played in Wyoming has had a different receiver step up and be Brett's go to guy. Against Texas it was Herron catching the ball 5 times for 173 yards. Against Toledo it was Ruffran with over 100 yards receiving. Then today it was McNeil with 219 yards.

This makes our offense really hard to defend because Brett doesn't have one favorite guy who he goes to all the time. You can't double team one guy because Brett has another guy he can always pass to. This is why I think we'll be in just about every game we play. If Herron comes back healthy we'll be even more dangerous.

I agree we will be dangerous, the part I see as the issue is when it comes to clock management. We score quick and we aren't capable of utilizing the clock it's always going to bite us because we have no running game at all.

I would complain too much about having an offense that can score quick. We are capable of slowing it down, but still Every coaches dream is to have an offense that can go 3-4 plays and score. Wyoming can do that. Yeah, it can make a D tired, but these guys want to play, and the more reps the D gets with the offense not stalling and giving them bad field position to defend will help them learn and continue to get better quickly.

Sure you want to be able to score fast when you need to. No coach wants a team that can only score fast and has no ability to slow the game down. You need some of both and we have a lot of one and none of the other. If we slow the game down we lose games we have no true running threat.

Outside of that running game even if we had a solid back the O line can't open a hole worth running through.

I agree, we go with a 1-4 play 70-90 yard td drive.
or we go with a 4 play, 2-5 yard drive with a punt.

Even if we don't score a td sometimes it would be nice to go 50 yards spend 5 minutes of clock and make the other team have crap field position.
If you ever need to laugh, just remember there was some idiot who wanted Bohl fired after 2 seasons.

Well, let's give Brett the recognition he deserves - go to the http://www.voteobrien.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; website and vote for him. He really does deserve it.
You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage him/her.

Is it my imagination or does his arm seem stronger this year? It seems his throws have more zip and his throwing motion looks quicker. Hopefully, the defense will use the bye week to figure it out.

He had off season surgery for an injured hand, turns our he was playing injured for half the season. So yes his ball has more life and his arm strength seems drastically improved

I tried to say a couple times during the off season that we should wait until we see him throw after the surgery when some people were questioning his arm strength. I remembered seeing his high school highlight vid when he committed and he threw the ball with a lot of zip, and also threw the deep ball very well. When I heard that he couldn't even grip the ball properly because of his hand injury, I knew that that had to be the reason that he was struggling making some of those longer throws, not because he wasn't strong enough.

hope he doesn't pull an ACS his Junior year and bolt on us come Senior year, or that he thinks he's NFL ready...

There is a huge difference between ACS and Brett. ACS never seemed appreciative to be a cowboy and Brett loves this coaching staff and team. ACS left because they fired the guy who brought him to Laramie. He didn't like how Arroyo was let go and decided to walk with him. I was told this by a former player for the cowboys, it wasn't because he wanted to go to a bigger school etc it was because he wasn't happy as a cowboy and didn't feel he had an ally in the coaching staff without arroyo.

I also don't think he'll bolt before his senior year. He needs to get some high profile wins under his belt so that he is recognized for what he can do. His senior year is his best chance to do this. I look for him to be the Kellen Moore of UW. Give everything he has for 4 years and then try to move up.

I've heard quite the opposite from both former and current players that were on the team then. ACS left because of the coaching staff, not all, but many of them, and especially Arroyo. ACS left before Arroyo was fired. This guy was the joke of the staff and DC's biggest failure. Besides being the OC he was also the position coach for QBs, which makes sense, and for kickers, which I don't get, unless it's because they score points. Of Arroyo's 2010 reports there were:

McCoy-Graduated
Crum-Graduated
ACS-Left the University and the football team for "unknown" reasons at end of the semester.
Watts-Left school mid semester, making himself academically ineligible to get a release.
Hayward-Our on-side specialist, left at the end of season.
Miller & Woodward-Stayed on, but left soon after.
Williams-Was a red shirt and stayed on, thank God, or Brett Smith would be kicking for us as well.

So unless I'm missing anyone, only one of Arroyo's reports in 2010 played a down in 2011. With the rate that we lose players I assume that DC figured this guy can't hold onto players and he is easily the worst OC in the country based on his 4 seasons trying to figure out how to move the ball and score at SJS, Prairie View and Wyoming. Getting rid of him has turned out to be one of DCs smartest moves.

I too believe Brett will stay all four years, but unlike Kellen Moore, he'll be drafted.

Well, unlike Moore, Brett has the height (6'3), mobility (which always comes in handy), and arm strength (proved it this year already). And like Moore, he disects defenses by reading them, is a great leader, and has incredible accuracy.

No kidding, of all the highlights from last weekend the best had to be Brett running out from the pile of people to convert a very long gain. I don't think I've seen a run like that from any of RBs this season, our's or our opponents. It was all heart, like he says, running angry! Maybe that should be our slogan in the future instead of spank your rock or build the brand, "running angry".
