UNLV and Nevada rumored to PAC 12

Let's assume we get 5 million and pac gets 8. If we merge both, I doubt we get 13. It'd be interesting to see if we even remained at 5 or if so many schools would dilute out the revenue. Total would go up but would per school payout?
How do you even come up with 13?

For simple math purposes- Assuming both conferences get 9 football playing members and the conferences decide to merge, the dollars per school averages to $6.5 million per school (the mean between 5 and 8). Maybe it is slightly higher just because there is less competition potentially driving the market higher.

Meaning it's not additive which in hindsight probably was obvious.

I doubt it's even the full amount averaged but who knows--certainly not anyone posting on this board.

Under your assumption of teams/values, the total would be 117 mill for all teams. I'm guessing that would be reduced if combined. Again, just a guess. If I'm the pac, my worst case is just add 1 more football school and take the higher payout. Obviously the pending court case and mwc buyout is another beast.

Saw this on X a few minutes ago. I agree with it. One way or another it'll eventually happen.
It has become more and more apparent over the course of this whole mess that the teams in the XPAC aren't nearly as desireable as they think they are. They've been shot down by ESPN and Fox, while the MW is in active discussions with CBS and Fox. It's going to be hysterical when Boise and San Diego State once again try to jump ship only to have to come crawling back.

And CSewe at goat U.

From what I read on twitter, the negotiations are not going well at all for the pac-whatever. They are rumored to be worth as much as the MWC, perhaps less. Total disaster for them. Could not have happened to a bigger bunch of a holes.
The PAC is worth more than the MWC and will get a higher per team media deal. That isn’t even debatable.

What is up for debate is whether their moves to leave the MWC will ultimately make sense considering the exit fees. I believe the answer to that will prove to be no.

We shall see . There hasn’t been good news or even rumblings of good news for a long time for them

Maybe that's true. Boise St. is the only reason the new PAC whatever would get more dough. No TV execs are drooling over the prospect of future Oregon st. - csewe matchups. If Boise st. got a Big 12 invite, the new Pac 6 would disintegrate.

Lost in all of this are the lawsuit and counter-suit. I think it's very unlikely the PAC prevails, which could mean all the newbies may not just be on the hook for exit fees, but if the MWC was to prevail in the counter-suit, the schools could all incur further debt. Sooner or later one or more of them is going to be a remorseful buyer with frostbitten toes and the house of cards will begin to fall...

I’m not tracking this. Colorado State and Utah State sued the MWC claiming the exit fees shouldn’t be enforced because 1) they allege they violate antitrust laws; and 2) they allege the MWC is ‘double dipping’ by seeking liquidated damages twice for the same harm of the schools departing (the PAC poaching fees and the schools exit fees). The MWC filed a Motion to Dismiss which is pending. Counterclaims wouldn’t even be asserted until the MTD is resolved and an answer is filed.

But more to the point - there’s no legal scenario that I see where the departing schools would pay more than the exit fees and I don’t see the issue as ‘prevailing’ as much as the lawsuits will play out to determine the total amount due to the MWC from both ‘poaching’ and ‘exit’ fees. The total will almost certainly be a negotiated settlement amongst the MWC, departing schools and Washington State and Oregon State which will be less than the current combined contractual poaching and exit fees.

Anyone know when the court dates are?

March 25 on the motion to dismiss related to the Washington State and Oregon State lawsuit. This is a very preliminary step in the overall scheme of a civil litigation matter. Civil litigation moves at a snails pace and any resolution within the next 24 months or so would only come via settlement (actual trials are years away if the cases get to that unlikely point).
