What that says to me is that we lack outstanding players ready to lead.
On the other hand, maybe we have enough talent that we are 2-3 deep

. I emphasize doubt about depth quality because this staff has not exactly pieced together much in 2 years and is now recognizing in season 3 the need to retool the offense. That tells me a struggle to be consistently competitive is more likely than any seeing any semblance of dominance. Only a weaker conference schedule being left behind by the traitors will provide the illusion of improvement.
Most likely we have a Sawful head coach who will struggle to assemble continuity in a way that puts the program in a position to win games. Winning 6 games will feel monumental as compared to only 3 and 4 if we get the wins with a watered down schedule.
I sure hope to be proven wrong. Just not having any excitement building leading up to the 2026 opener and hearing the staff is indecisive on team leadership.
