Social Media

Ok. Deep breaths. Players don't hate the fans. Fans don't hate the players.

Let's just all hate Marty Fletchers analogies.

I can't hate anything Fletcher related. John wouldn't like that. You wouldn't like him when he's mad.

So fans are allowed to voice their opinions, but players are not? Gotcha.
Once again, right over your head. Making threats are now opinions?! Hmmm.
Where is the threat? I still haven't seen one.

From Trey Washington's twitter in response to the original tweet:

"Say Dawg you need to gone some where before I get on yo ass I don't play about family and you messing with mine."

Should players have been smarter in how they handled the situation? Sure.

But that doesn't give "fans" the right to go after the players like they do. The players are human. If they get attacked, eventually they will fight back.

You are just too slow for this. Nobody attacked a player. Geez, wake up.

I'm wide awake, thank you.

Nobody attacked anybody. And yes players are human.

Wonder if the players were told not to go on twitter for awhile? I decided to check their twitter accounts for the hell of it to see if there have been any tweets and doesn't look like any of them have sent a tweet for about 10 hours. Mac sent one 6 hours ago but everyone else hasn't sent one for over 10 hours.

Is that normal or unusual for the whole team? I don't usually follow them on twitter so I am not sure.

I don't follow closely but I think that's unusual. I feel like DC and Josh are usually on there constantly when I do check it out

DC, Josh and Nance are the most vocal but it's not that odd to see 2-3 days pass without much from any of them.

Dude did you even hear what actually happened?

A UW student tweeted "Hankerson needs benched". He didn't tag Hankerson in the text. He just said Hankerson needs benched. Literally 3 words.

Then the team leader Larry Nance jumped down the kids throat. Along with several other players.

So what did the kid do? He posted Hankerson's 3-point shooting stats justifying why he said he needed benched.

Then what happened?

More and more UW players jumped down the kids throat.
Nance proceeded to tell him they don't want him as a fan. And Washington proceeded to threaten the kid.

The kid who sent the tweet didn't "go after" ANYONE. Instead, he did what he has a right to do, tweeted his 3 words, then justified his reasoning for saying it, only to get ganged up on by an entire basketball team

The players fucked up hard, and like I said earlier, only you and their jersey chasing girlfriends are the only ones defending them.
Why is it so hard to admit that although fans are often the dickheads, that these players royally screwed this up?

I bet they are done on twitter for the rest of the season.

You'd think they would be anyways, if they want it as bad as they tweet they do. Like someone pointed out (I believe in a different thread) take someone like Derrick Marks, your odds on favorite for POY, hasn't tweeted since October or so. Shy should at least ban it on gamedays.

Social media is a killer. Think of Dembo. Thick skin to a point. Didn't really care what was said of him, if he heard rumors about him he flaunted it to the opposing crowd when he was single handedly beating their team.
He allowed his frustrations to show by his play. Not by writing a letter to the editor (equivalent of twitter today)
Players, grow up. You won't impress everybody, and if you are in fact sucking at what your supposed to be doing, then you might not want to read what is said about you. Bea use all through the ages fans talk. Fans have opinions and they voice their opinions. Players have one job to do, do their best and win. Otherwise shut it up. And if I was your coach, I'd be getting rid of a TON of distractions.

Hankerson is shooting 32.7% from 3-point range. Nance is shooting 30.8% from 3-point range.

I guess since that's the only justification a "fan" needs to call for a player to be benched, it would be okay for me to tweet that Larry Nance needs to be benched too.

Josh, never mind. Good hell. Like talking to my 4 yr old daughter.

Hank may be 32% on the year. But the last nine games, he is like 12% or something. THUS, THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE ORIGINAL TWEET THE KID SENT OUT.

Bag it, never mind. The train has left the station.

you know the old saying, "What have you done for me lately?"

THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS WHOLE FRICKIN THREAD. MY GOSH MAN.
