Also, two programs that are in the running for a NCAA berth and who have been to the NCAA in recent years (unlike our once in the last 25 years). Our attendance is on par with (Washington, Oregon) or greater than (OSU, WSU, ASU, Stanford, USC) many PAC12 schools. Our fans are not perfect but I don't think this type of commentary is warranted.

Just a little education for you Josh.
Wyoming fans for the most part are hard working, blue collar people. They work in energy or agriculture businesses, or something that is either directly or indirectly supported by those two main industries. Most fans were born and raised in Wyoming. They grow up knowing ONLY the University of Wyoming, because there is nothing else for a Wyoming kid. There is no Wyoming State, or University of Wyoming Casper or University of Wyoming Cheyenne....there is only ONE university and it is WYOMING.
The typical Wyoming fan on gamedays will leave work early (costing them a few hours of pay), load up the kids in the car and head out over the highways (most times covered with snow and ice) and drive 3+ hours to get to the game. They will scream their guts out for the next two hours (or more for football) no matter what the result on the court or field of play. They will then load everyone up and brave those very scary roads once again to get home well past midnight knowing he/she has to get up and go to work at 6:00AM that morning. My dad did this with us when I was a kid over 60 years ago and I did it with my kids 30 years ago and they are now doing it with their kids today.
It's the Wyoming way.
Most of the players at Wyoming get it.....these are some of the most passionate and insane fans on the face of the planet. Not only are Wyoming fans happy to travel hundreds of miles to Laramie to root for their team, they are also happy to travel to Albuquerque, or Colorado Springs or Fort Fluff or Las Vegas or Logan, or any other damn place the kids are playing. And they do this because they are Wyoming fans. They also dig deep when they can't really afford it to send $25 or $50 to the Cowboy Joe Club because that's what Cowboy fans do. They will just skip a few nights out or have one less pizza night for their kids so they can send their small contribution off to the school to support the athletic program.
I'm a Wyoming fan Josh, I have been one my whole life. All of the good people who post on here are Wyoming fans. They have been Wyoming fans their whole life. We voice our opinions because we care. We don't have a problem with the kids playing for Wyoming. We still support them when they stink up the joint. But we also have earned the right to throw a little criticism out there on a message board.
When you, Josh, have made countless trips through blizzards to watch these Cowboys play, and you, Josh, have placed that $25 in an envelope every month and sent it off to the CJC....then you can criticize the rest of us for being less than perfect fans. Until then, you can take your sanctimonious dog and pony show somewhere else. :twocents:

How many beers have you had tonight sir?fromolwyoming said:Ladies and drunks, allow me to say a few things.
1. Ankle surgery is a pain in the ass.
2. A lot of the people here can be a royal pain in the ass.
3. On the flip side, they can also be pretty cool.
4. What is not cool, is going onto social media and getting after a hard working player like Hankerson, and saying he should be benched.
5. What shocks me, is that a lot of people seem surprised that his teammates would stick up for him, particularly after a tough home loss.
6. Completely unrelated, but a lot of Eastern Europeans are still jock sniffing Russia's leader (Putin, Stalin, etc could do no wrong and anything that says otherwise is Western Propaganda or straight up lies).
7. Also completely unrelated, we have plenty of crazies in the US too, and not just in DC.
Rant over.

joshvanklomp said:While maybe you've got the right to be critical, how about a little bit of perspective.
This team is just two wins shy of recording the most wins in a single season since the 1987-1988 season. That's longer than probably some of the posters here have been alive.
If I'm blindly supporting this team for having one of it's best seasons it's had in a long time, so be it. I'd rather do that than sit around all day attacking someone else because he *gasp* doesn't view every single aspect of the program in a negative light.
Why punish the players for a schedule that they didn't set? It seems like everyone's judging them because of the easy schedule. They still had to go out and win those games, which they did.Subcanis said:Just out of curiosity, what what the that 87-88 teams RPI? Did they even record that then?

Could this season have been better? Of course. But that shouldn't take away from the success this team has had.
Could Hankerson shoot better? Of course. But that shouldn't take away from the other ways he helps his team while on the court.
Could we have won those games Nance missed with mono. Of course. But that shouldn't give a fan the right to blame Alan Herndon for passing on mono to Larry.
Oh, and no, I don't know that team's RPI or if they recorded RPI back then. I would guess they did, but not certain.
EDIT: According to this site, they were 15th. But I never said they were as good as that team, just that they would have the best record since then.
Maybe I just need to adjust my expectations of fan bases.CowboyNV said:I'm a Wyoming fan Josh, I have been one my whole life. All of the good people who post on here are Wyoming fans.
