Circle Jerk on the UNI boards

Iowa teasing Wyoming (as a state) is laughable. Is there a worst place to live than Iowa? I doubt it.

Some poster on their board says about Wyoming, "What else is there to do there? I've been there many a times and I get bored five minutes in every time. Even driving through the mountains and seeing old faithful got boring to me once I turned 10."

Since Wyoming is so boring, I thought I would try to find out why Cedar Rapids has so much more to offer than Wyoming. I looked up things to do in Cedar Rapids (here is a link to the website):
http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/North_America/United_States_of_America/Iowa/Cedar_Rapids-773195/Things_To_Do-Cedar_Rapids-TG-C-1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here are a few of the highlights from that site:

Having a ball tasting wine with friends
Goint to see the Dance Company dance recital at the Paramount Theater
Ellis Park
Old McDonalds Farm
Looking at ornate Chech plates
Multiple visits to the National Chech and Slovak Museum and Library
Multiple visits to the Science Station
Wine shop owner Lauren Chalupsky
And last but not least, sitting in old school desks in the History Center

No wonder they love life in Iowa. Hell, with that kind of daily excitement, I might give it a shot. I can see why this guy was bored with the Tetons, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, and the myriad other great places in Wyoming. Where in the hell can you go and actually sit in an old school desk? You win Cedar Rapids.

LOL

I've already told the wife, bags are packed, and the trunk is half loaded. I can't wait to get there.....

Can I ask why you chose Cedar Rapids? Most Iowans, including myself, regard it as a nasty place due to the industrial area that makes it reek of chemicals and Quaker Oats. Des Moines is a much nicer place with plenty to do and enjoy if you're just looking at metropolitan areas.

Cedar Rapids is also about an hour away from Northern Iowa's campus in Cedar Falls...so I must be missing the relevance unless Cedar Rapids was specifically mentioned as being nicer than Wyoming, which again, is just a local resident trying to make themselves feel better about their toxic city.

Man. Pig fucking season must be over, because those guys over there sure have a lot of time on their hands to perform fellatio on themselves. I am surprised that they aren't 34-0, I mean a top 10 team should have no trouble running through the MVC.

No, I looked at things to do in Cedar Falls - http://www.cedarfallstourism.org/things-to-do/attractions/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - but they paled in comparison to the things to do in Cedar Rapids. I was just trying to figure out why the guy thought Wyoming was so boring, so I went looking for great things to do in Iowa and boy did I find them. I don't know how you guys can go to sleep at night with all of that fun stuff to do.

Don't take it personal. I'm willing to bet we'd trash any other state or city, too. We just love Wyoming! Our pride runs deep.

I'm having a good time reading this thread. Things will be settled on the court soon but the state to state trash talk is very entertaining

Interesting view on a fan base believing their Top 10 team will win a game. I will admit that PantherNation is very confident, but honestly this is another instance of this match up being a near mirror image. You have an entire thread about how the favored team believes they'll win a game. Your game thread is much more relaxed but it pretty much echoes our game thread: We have the best player, we our styles are similar so we have the advantage, our schedule was tougher, etc...

Is it really so insane that 2 fan bases in the midst of conference tournament titles and really strong seasons (undoubtedly the BEST regular season in UNI's history and one filled with lots of media exposure that we are not used to in the slightest) believe they have a good team. I'm just happy some fans have been able to see through this stupid dick-measuring contest and talk about relevant topics.

And since I can't resist being a little snarky, UNI did not have much trouble running through the MVC this year. We lost our opening game to a young Evansville team that at the time looked primed to be a Top 50 RPI team (and then imploded...like always) and to another Top 15 team in Wichita State. Add in a 2OT loss to VCU (who hadn't lost superstar Briante Weber to that horrific knee injury yet). Other than that we won most of our games comfortably. You guys should understand as well as anyone how difficult it can be to blowout teams when you play less than 60 possessions a game, and yet UNI won 73% of their wins by double digits. I should also throw in that every RPI and SOS metric I've come across puts UNI's SOS about 40-50 spots higher than Wyoming's (~140 compared to ~180-190 depending on the site). It's not a huge difference but I don't think you guys can point the "who did you beat" finger without looking at yourself.

Sorry for the essay and being a bit of a dick, but are you really trying to degrade a group of people you've never met simply because they think their favorite basketball team is more likely to win on Friday? Grow up dude. If you think we're wrong that's perfectly fine, but calling us pig-fuckers and farm boys who blow each other is exactly why you're being shit on by most of our forum.

Cedar Falls is just a college town of about 30,000. No one is going to claim its anything close to the likes of Iowa City (home of the University of Iowa) or Ames (Iowa State) in terms of a vibrant college/party scene. And yet I still managed to get plastered pretty regularly. Waterloo is near by but is a former industrial city that has been hit hard over the last few decades by the loss of manufacturers other than John Deere and is currently trying to revitalize itself but progress is slow. My family is from the area and I'm very glad that I'm in Des Moines. As far as "urban" things-to-do are concerned you go to Des Moines, Iowa City or the Quad Cities.

Also I have to point out that only one person made the original point of Wyoming being boring and no one echoed it. Now the only talk about Iowa v. Wyoming is in response to fellatio and pig-fucking comments. Haven't seen anyone actually say it is a shitty place with nothing to do.

We've had this exact same pissing match with North Dakota St fans. They normally don't call us gay pig-fuckers though. Probably because they've been called sheep-fuckers anytime they get mouthy with another fanbase. Most of them except lakesbison have learned to just point to the rings on their coaches fingers instead...it usually works.

Sweet!!! My experiment was a success. The hypothesis was that I could submit the most abrasive and obnoxious comment on this board, and that comment would be referenced on the UNI board within an hour. Thanks for validating. It took all of 25 minutes.

In all honesty I haven't even seen you guys play this year and have no idea what kind of talent you may have. I am hoping for a well played, hard fought Wyoming win, but we will see how that works out. We have two good players, but we also go on long scoring droughts that could potentially sink any chances we may have. If we put together a complete game like we played against Boise or Colorado I think we have a punchers chance.

Look, I'm sure Iowa is a great place to live. I was simply responding to some douche who said Wyoming was boring. I also think you guys have a great coach and a great team. But as a Wyoming native, and a Wyoming fan, on a Wyoming forum, if some idiot says there is nothing to do in Wyoming, I'm going to respond. None of the things I listed had anything to do with pig fucking or blow jobs. I just thought it was funny that the guy thought Old Faithful was boring, yet somehow sitting in old school desks was a big deal for some people. Don't take the things said on this forum personally, it's all in good fun. If you want a real Wyoming fan experience, come on here and say you are either a BYU or CSU fan. Then you will see some shit. Anyway, as I said before, here's to a great game and no injuries. Best of luck.

I don't think anyone on PantherNation is going to advocate visiting an old school house over Yellowstone. Even as a teacher, I wouldn't and won't.

The irony is that you guys are jumping on us for jumping on you for jumping on us. There is an endless "circle jerk" between both fan bases because the other is offended that their opponents haven't prostrated themselves and admitted that they have no chance of winning. Clearly that's a silly thing for anyone to expect and yet...here we are.

Also the fact that someone has been posting things specifically to see if it pops up on the other forum kind of proves my point.

How can a state that has two national parks, some great skiing, largest forest in the US, multiple impressive mountain ranges, etc be boring? I live in Colorado and love Wyoming because of the lack of crowds and amount of things to do. I guess it can be boring if you don't get out of the car.

What a fucking fool....make that tool.
