Circle Jerk on the UNI boards

ItSucksToBeACSURam said:
Jesus that board is hot mess of ass grab and jibber jabber. They lost all credibility when the one moron said they're team was far and away better in all areas than San Diego State and that post about we have no one who can dunk over people. What a bunch of dopes.

Wait, we don't have anyone who can dunk over people?

We have frickin white boys from the state of Wyoming that dunk over people.

Warning: Do not release the McManimal.

DO YOU GUYS WANT TO ME GUY MESS WITH THEM ON THEIR BOARD??

they love me over there. I will be CHEERING for Wyoming.

NDSU plays Gonzaga (2 years in a row to big dance!)

ps- I hate uni, no one likes them.

Pot meet kettle, he's a pretty nice fellow.

This is just my personal prospective, I won't speak to what other Panther fans feel, but we're little brother in our own state to Iowa and Iowa St. We aren't about to let some school from a non power conference tell us our conference blows when we routinely prove we have what it takes to not only play with but beat the power conference schools.

Just a few examples:

2004: Defeated Iowa St. (99-82), NCAA Qualifier

2005: Defeated Iowa (67-63), Defeated LSU in Baton Rouge (54-50), NCAA Qualifier

2006: Defeated Iowa St. (70-57), Defeated Iowa in Iowa City (57-55)

2007: Defeated Iowa St. in Ames (61-48)

2008: Defeated Auburn on a Neutral floor (67-61)

2009: Defeated Wyoming (72-54), Defeated Boston College on a neutral floor (81-69), Defeated Iowa St. in Ames (63-60), Defeated Iowa (67-50),

NCAA Tournament: we beat UNLV from the beloved MWC (I'm not sure how we did it, it's just a brutal conference to play in) Then we went on to beat the top overall Seed Kansas in Oklahoma City. (For those doing the math at home it's a Lawrence, KS is a tad bit closer to Oklahoma City than Cedar Falls, IA, similar to how Laramie is just a tad closer to Seattle than Cedar Falls.), Lost by 7 to Michigan St. in the Sweet 16.

* Note many in Iowa consider this team more well rounded than the 2009 team.

I could go on and on and on all the way up to the present.

It's not that we don't respect you, it's that you don't respect us.

I love it when guys come on here bitching about a lack of respect and then give their storied history. Here's a few tidbits for you Codyashi:

Wyoming has more National Championships than all of the teams in Iowa combined.

UNLV has more National Championships than all of the teams in Iowa combined.

UNI, as of February, was averaging 4,656 fans at their home games (for a team that went 30-3 on the year, and in a town with a population of 128,000). Wyoming had more fans than that travel to Las Vegas for the MWC tournament.

Your "arena" seats 7,018 people. Really? And with that many people nearby, and a team with a 30-3 record, you can't sell it out every night? Laramie has a population of around 32,000 and we averaged 6,310, and we were disappointed with that.

I could go on and on, but I won't.

I respect your coach and I think you have a good team. Hell, you might have a great team. That's why they leave things like this up to the players instead of the fans. If Wyoming loses, guess what, nobody gives a shit because we weren't supposed to win anyway. However, if Wyoming wins, you will spend the next ten years trying to climb back up the mountain because everyone will remember you being seeded way too high in 2015, and losing to the lowly Cowboys. Here's to an injury free, great basketball game. Enjoy the ride. We are!!

Hey everyone--I'm new to the Wyonation board. I have close family living in Jackson, and visit them as often as I can. Love the Tetons! First of all, best of luck to your team.

However--maybe I'm reading out of context, but are you talking about National Men's Basketball Championships? If so, it was the WWII era, so I guess that still counts...just seems overstated. I just hope you don't mean all sports combined, considering the state of Iowa has won our fair share of NCAA Wrestling titles.

And all the chatter about message boards back and forth, I think we can all agree that any fan base (these two included) have a select few who talk the talk a little more than needed. I think it'll be a great game between two similar teams. I know Coach Jake has great respect for your program, and I can tell the majority of your fans feel the same way about UNI.

I wish I was in Seattle--unfortunately I'll be in Washington (DC that is) for a work trip. I'll echo the sentiments of an injury-free, hard-fought game!

I think this thread was about basketball.....so yes, NCAA basketball championships are what we are talking about. And the last time I looked, our championship didn't come with an expiration date. Bottom line, it doesn't matter when we earned it, we earned it and the banner hangs in the AA.

Here's to a great game.

STOP TUTTLE and you'll beat them.

I guess not , now they're blowing each other.
v

That's called an "Iowa Handshake"

That shit's funny.

Binding agreements are no joke! I don't think I'll be doing business in Iowa.

You know, I'm beginning to build up a healthy hatred for those fuckers over there.

To any lurking Panther fans: Who have you beaten? Seriously.

Each other.

First they claim that we don't have any athletic guards, or that we haven't seen any guards take the ball in for a dunk. When videos are posted to the contrary, they try and brush them off and claim "we are in love with youtube" or other stupid crap like that. They asked for it, we showed them, they continue to be stupid for stupid sake. Though 1 or 2 over there aren't bad at least.

We are playing with house money, UNI has everything to lose Friday.

I am so damned proud of the Pokes the past few weeks.

UNI can toot their own panther horn, but SDSU, Boise State and CSU would've finished above almost every team in that conference. The MWC is not a world-beater conf, but outside of the P5, it is the next best.

I know its been a while, but I seem to remember the same type banter with Gonzaga fans the same year we beat them. Then they cried about how they were disrespected by the NCAA and should have gotten a higher seed so they shouldn't have had to play us.
Also, I don't watch Sportscenter every night, but I don't remember seeing any NIU highlights on the Top Ten Plays of the Day this year. We were on there, what 4-5 times this year. Hell, Josh Adams was on twice in one night.

Some poster on their board says about Wyoming, "What else is there to do there? I've been there many a times and I get bored five minutes in every time. Even driving through the mountains and seeing old faithful got boring to me once I turned 10."

Since Wyoming is so boring, I thought I would try to find out why Cedar Rapids has so much more to offer than Wyoming. I looked up things to do in Cedar Rapids (here is a link to the website):

Here are a few of the highlights from that site:

Having a ball tasting wine with friends
Going to see the Dance Company dance recital at the Paramount Theater
Ellis Park
Old McDonalds Farm
Looking at ornate Chech plates
Multiple visits to the National Chech and Slovak Museum and Library
Multiple visits to the Science Station
Wine shop owner Lauren Chalupsky
And last but not least, sitting in old school desks in the History Center

No wonder they love life in Iowa. Hell, with that kind of daily excitement, I might give it a shot. I can see why this guy was bored with the Tetons, Devils Tower, Yellowstone, and the myriad other great places in Wyoming. Where in the hell can you go and actually sit in an old school desk? You win Cedar Rapids.
