Plans to sell naming rights of the AA and War? Thoughts?

Look up NextEra’s projects they’ve planned around the state. They are now likely facing permitting issues at the county and state levels and recent proposed legislation may even reduce or eliminate the viability. Wyoming has the wind resource but the political headwinds are making those projects more difficult. These are upwards of billion dollar projects. I believe the Chugwater project alone is 978 million. They’ve already sunk many many millions of dollars in the real estate, studies and planning. Buying goodwill could make a lot of sense.
I think what is demoralizing about this is that what you are describing would not take just a good administrator and marketer. It would take people with extraordinary vision... Not just one person.... Many persons. If that is what it takes to get UW athletics right then it just isn't going to happen. It's easy to sit here and describe the fruits of unique talents....

It would take multiple people. People skilled in deal making, vision and follow through. But it isn’t an insurmountable mountain by any means. It’s actually very achievable. But I am pretty sure the athletic department has never even made a simple phone call to the likes of NextEra and similar companies. But rest assured Brown and Gold Outlet (and this is no knock on their small business) is on speed dial.

I don't have enough info to comment much on the idea. Why are there permit challenges? Is federal land involved and are feds holding up the process? Opposition to sight pollution from windmills? Political, scientific, or business questions regarding long-term industry viability? Your proposal is basically requesting above market contributions to UW athletics and in return the company receives political favors in terms of permitting and such. Unfortunately a relatively standard practice in the US, but what is the political motivation to make this play? Why provide favors to help UW athletics vs their campaign fund, community that may be affected, county, school districts in whatever area is impacted, etc.?

Like I said, I honestly don't know enough about it to comment.

Yea man - I don’t have the time to hold your hand on all the issues of energy development right now in Wyoming. These are state/local issues (nothing to do with the feds) and a few internet clicks you should be able to find some of the information you seek. You can start with the ‘freedom’ caucus’ general view on nuclear, renewable energy and co2 injection development, the restrictions/bans it seeks on those developments, and the bills from last and the upcoming session. You can also research OSLI leases/easements, state industrial siting council and county permit requirements. It may also to help you if you understand the ‘big 5’ who sit on the Wyoming state board of land commissioners. Hope this helps.

First, not really worth the time. It's mental masturbation at best; there's almost 0 chance of it happening. Second, understanding the details doesn't explain how donating/advertsing with UW athletics solves the problem politically or otherwise.

I can't think of anything less green than a windmill. nothing like seeing a hundred of them spread out over thousands of acres of our landscape. solar panel farms might be even worse. I'd rather see water vapor coming out of a few stacks than whatever dogshit they think this green energy is. Now, if you want to talk about getting solar onto everyone's roof or solar thermal? Now we're talking.

If a rancher wants to lease their land for wind, solar, oil and gas, nuclear, mining or whatever else…should it really be the role of the state government to prevent them from realizing that income?

To me - it’s insane for our legislature to be picking winners and losers at the expense of revenues that could go to many things. With data center demand, the amount of energy Wyoming could produce for thirsty markets is practically limitless. For whatever reasons, folks have decided that government knows best and we are going to dictate what can and can’t be developed here.

Sure, I think people should get to do what they want but Wind and Solar is heavily subsidized. Government (Feds) is picking the winners and losers already. I'd agree that the market should decide on its own and in that scenario we'd have zero windmills and solar farms. We don't live in anything resembling a free market society

I’m really not aware of any major subsidies that still exist for wind and solar following the recent ‘big beautiful bill.’ Wind might be the cheapest form of energy in certain areas with a big resource like Chugwater.

And I’m an oil and gas guy.

It's hard to argue with with actual facts against ideology.
