Plans to sell naming rights of the AA and War? Thoughts?

I don't know many that thought TCU or Utah would have been worse off for joining a power conference. Definitely byu and independence but church money kept them relevant until the big 12 invite.

It's been 3 decades or so since we were competitive against that trio. Soon, incoming Freshman have no concept of ever really playing them much. To be bogged down in worrying about the level these play it is, well, up to personal opinion I guess. Foolish to me, but that's just me. I want UW to maximize our potential and be competitive with what's available to us. We haven't done that in 30+ years.

Bsu? Let's see how all this shakes out in fbs. I think it's clear there will be at least 2 levels or maybe 3. We'll be in the bottom level of whatever transpires in that split. Who will be with us? Anyone's guess. Do we fold the football program because the opponents aren't enticing or do we try like hell to win the hand we're dealt?
What they will do and what I want to have happen are two different things. My Wyoming fan-dom was born in the late 80s and that is the standard I have and want for UW. Want to go down to some FCS equivalent? That is fine...I'll take my fan support elsewhere. I'm not excited about the prospect of hammering on NMSU, Idaho and others like that (particularly since it's just as likely we will be the one getting hammered). No amount of talk about the level that is "available" to us will help that. That's loser talk.

For a group with an average age as high as I think it is, there is a lot of recency bias here. Doesn't anybody remember what it was like to have a legitimately great team?

Question for you Ragtime...do you have any feelings about how much better than us the BYU football program is?

UW is late to the game on this, just like UW was late to the game on the NIL, UW is always behind everybody else. I am not sure there is any revenue source that UW has had a "novel approach" on -- unless you count being first in the budget bill at the legislature. Other than that UW is not much on innovation with regards to revenue streams.
Being conservative nets conservative results.

My fandon is from the 60s and Wyoming was a national power....Even when Fred Akers came in 1975 he knew he was walking into a former powerhouse school and in 1976 had us back in the top 20!

you and My dad...he used to tell me stories about listening to games on a little radio at hunting camp.

Not really. Wealthy church. Wealthy school. Factors that helped attendance, money, etc

Level available to us is loser talk? Not really. We aren't an Ivy League either. Doesn't mean the degree is piss poor. The goal is be the best you can be in the system or situation you're in. Maximize and improve as much as you can.

Well....this gets to a temperamental difference between you and I (I think). I probably worded the question wrong though. It really galls me that we suck in comparison to them specifically. All the external factors that you point out are true and they don't make me feel any better.

The whole "level available to us" is a cope. Wyoming athletics used to be something. There was something to feel good about and take pride in. There is something in winning and excelling at an FCS like level that is worth having pride in...no doubt...but until the generation that remembers Wyoming having actual excellence dies out, watered down bowl appearances and CBI championships will always be compared to something better and be found wanting.

I think I've just hit my limit with this stuff. I've finally come to realize that Wyoming will never be within sniffing distance of what it used to be. The thing that kills me is I don't even get to blame Burman or the BoT or whoever...it was decided by forces bigger than all of those people. I get it....I'm having a tantrum right now about this. I looooove Wyoming athletics...but this ain't it.

got some superfans out there that would lay down the cashola for naming rights. How does this sound? - Toby Bonner-War Memorial Stadium? A nickname for the stadium would be "the smirk"

Well, Taco John’s is out. They moved their headquarters to Minneapolis. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t they only talking about naming rights for just the AA?

One of the energy companies that operates in Wyoming should be heavily considered. A good business person would be soliciting offers from them and using this as leverage to drive up the price. That would require boots on the ground and making a concerted effort to get the best deal. I don’t see this happening.

How about that new nuclear plant opening in Kemmerer? Terra power stadium - funded by Bill Gates. I hear he has money.
