Debatable.
Going to get a fair amount of wins? Yeah sure.
Going to get some upset wins? Yeah likely.
Going to get upset? Most definitely.

Everything is debatable, but the tangibles (an incredible increase in pulling top tier talent), and a fantastic job of playing to players strengths, and developing existing talent have been strikingly evident.
Consensus 4's with 3 five stars visiting for the Fresno Game. If Bookie comes on board...watch the f out. The secondary will be incredible.laxwyo said:I think they've already grabbed a 5 or two

Recruiting is going ok, last year and this year they are hovering right around the #25 class in the country, give or take a few spots.
Biggest problem though is that they fired one coach and replaced him with someone that is not nearly as good IMO. Bo is the best coach since Osbourne, and I think will be the best coach they see for a while.

Nebraska fans would rather have someone on the sideline that embodies the spirit and demeanor of the people of the state...they built the culture of the team after all. Mike is that guy, Bo was not. Bo gave the University a bad name, even in winning. I'd take fewer wins, and doing it with class and respect over anything Bo could offer.

Once the fan base found out how much his previous players loved him, how much he cared for his "kids" and their life after football, and how dedicated he was to doing it right, Nebraska fans couldn't have been happier about the hire. There are a whole heck of a lot of things more important in life than football games, and this coach understands that. The reason Pelini got fired for winning 9 games a season is because of his demeanor and how it reflected on the University of Nebraska. Temper tantrums and tirades do a lot more for tarnishing an image than some extra losses....and I don't think we'll end up with either.Cowboy Junky said:Jawja said:WestWYOPoke said:Someone is drinking the Husker kool-aid.

I get that. You want your team to conduct themselves in a manner that makes you proud. Still, a retread from Oregon State? The Nebraska fan base had to freak out when they realized they hired Mike.
It seems like with all the money you guys make from the B1G, you would be able to go get just about any coach in the country. In fact, I would expect that the majority of your fan base thinks that it's your god given right to hire almost anyone you want.
I know, as a Wyoming fan that was alive for the last two games that we should have won in Lincoln, I know I'm one hell of a lot more confident facing Mike Rilley than I am Tom Osborn or Bo Pellini. In fact, it's hard for me to believe that Mike Rilley is the best coach you guys could find.

Bo was not a better coach, he was a dumpster fire who hired terrible assistants around him. He did it so he could control everything. He was also a maniac on the sidelines. His recruiting was horrible and there are all sorts of horror stories about what he and his staff did around recruits and their parents.
For example the staff trashed one of the boosters private jets on a recruiting trip and the boosters stopped lending them out. Bo and Barney cotton squeeled their tires outside of Bubba Starlings parents house when he let them know they would be going into the MLB draft. Most kids in interviews said they would never play for anyone with a temperament like that. Calling the AD a Pu..y a$$ C#nt in front of 105 players will not impress anyone.
Anyways saying he was the best coach since Osborne shows you don't know much about the program. Which I wouldn't expect you to. Just clearing up fallacies.

NE fans take themselves and their folksy image way too seriously. Bo was as interesting as he was ugly.Jawja said:WestWYOPoke said:Someone is drinking the Husker kool-aid.

The culture of Nebraska fans via the walk on pipeline is what helped to shape the team and it's identity. If that's not a reason to care about the image of the program, then I don't know what is.LanderPoke said:NE fans take themselves and their folksy image way too seriously. I read that article about the NE walk-on program. Lots of pros from NE considering the population. Very cool. We will gladly offer a lot of these kids scholarships.Jawja said:The culture of Nebraska fans via the walk on pipeline is what helped to shape the team and it's identity.
