Someone is drinking the Husker kool-aid.

Recruiting is going ok, last year and this year they are hovering right around the #25 class in the country, give or take a few spots.

Biggest problem though is that they fired one coach and replaced him with someone that is not nearly as good IMO. Bo is the best coach since Osbourne, and I think will be the best coach they see for a while.

Nebraska fans would rather have someone on the sideline that embodies the spirit and demeanor of the people of the state...they built the culture of the team after all. Mike is that guy, Bo was not. Bo gave the University a bad name, even in winning. I'd take fewer wins, and doing it with class and respect over anything Bo could offer.
NE fans take themselves and their folksy image way too seriously. Bo was as interesting as he was ugly.
The culture of Nebraska fans via the walk on pipeline is what helped to shape the team and it's identity. If that's not a reason to care about the image of the program, then I don't know what is.
I read that article about the NE walk-on program. Lots of pros from NE considering the population. Very cool. We will gladly offer a lot of these kids scholarships.
Yeah, that's the deal As NDSU, Wyoming, and surrounding schools get better, the coaching staff has to get better about offering. The cool thing is that many of these kids turn down scholarships to walk on for Nebraska. Ol' Andy Janovich had a heck of a run for the Broncos last night.

Bo is a better coach than Riley? You are off your rocker!

Riley is a very good coach. Oregon State has no football history whatsoever. Did you know before Riley OSU had their last winning season in 1970? He then went on to have 8 winning season's in 14 years and Erickson took the Beavers to the Fiesta Bowl with Riley's players.

Well, not that you're aware of.

I like how you're ignoring and trying to play off my not so subtle Lawrence Phillips-was-a-woman-beater digs; just like the rest of the Nebraska fan base after it happened! Because that's "the Nebraska way".

Wasn't another Nebraska fan throwing around the classless label in another thread? For such a noble bunch of football fans, you sure pick and choose liberally what to find offensive.

Oh yes, I was forgetting the horrible record that Bo has had as a head coach...just because the guy is an asshat, doesn't mean he is a horrible coach. Never won less than 9 games, and in 1 year, Riley can't even break .500. I don't like Bo, but I'm still confident that he is better than Riley. Riley hasn't done anything to prove otherwise.

How are you expecting fans to react to a 20 year old issue?
I guess the situation that he got himself into totally destroys the rest of the culture of Nebraska Football, and what the fans expect it to be. I suppose we should just all hang out heads in shame every time an individual doesn't embody the spirit if the Husker football program. Whatever shall we do when faced with the reality that the world is actually many shades of gray, rather than the black and white that makes it so easy to point fingers and dole out judgement. Gosh. I guess all of the wonderful stories about the development of young men are totally negated by the occasional story like Lawrence's (which was incredibly tragic if you know his story).

Anyway, GBR.

LOL at all of y'all that though Oregon would be the 'Skers.
LOL at the Husker fan who has so much going for him at this point of his life that he needs to visit a fan forum of a non conference opponent they played a week ago and gloat about beating a different non conference team that has absolutely zero connection to us.

None of us really thought you'd lose to Oregon at home, we were just trying to wind you up for coming on our boards. Your team is pretty decent. Too bad you have Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan in your conference. You'll probably never get a sniff at the National Championship, as you just won't be able to win your conference. Unfortunatley you're in just too tough of a conference. That's why you're sort of the Wyoming of the BIG 10. We have Boise State and you have three of the best programs in the country. One of them is bound to stomp you every year. You'll still probably get in decent bowl games, so you won't have the embarrassment of the Foster Farms Bowl again. But forget about Conference Championships. Hell, once Penn State shakes off the Sandusky scandal and gets their recruiting to where it was, that'll be 4 programs in the East Division that you won't be able to get by, even if you win the West every year. Nebraska should join the Mountain West, you'd have a 50/50 chance to win the conference almost every year.
