MWC Hoops

Who do we want to win the other two big games tonight?

Fresno at SDSU
CSU at Boise
I just want to win the conference. An NCAA tourney bid is the ultimate goal (I guess. A conference 'ship would be just as cool, imo), but I think that the committee would have a hard time keeping the MWC regular season champ out of the tourney. So I hope Boise and Fresno win.

I agree. We need Boise to go on a warpath since we don't play them anymore. They've been doing just that after their loss in Laramie. Keep it up tonight!

As for Fresno, they haven't really played any tough road games yet other than the conference opener at the Pit. I think their best case scenario this week is a split, as they're playing at SDSU and at CSU. I'm hoping for a sweep, but a split would still be helpful. If they're going to split, a win tonight would probably be best.

Checking in on… the Mountain West

Team of the Week

Wyoming – The Cowboys only played one game, but boy was it a doozy. They hosted New Mexico on Saturday and prevailed in dramatic fashion in a game where the win probabilities swung dramatically on a regular basis, not including a Larry Nance three-quarter court shot at the regulation buzzer that seemed to go halfway down before rattling out. Still, not to be denied, the Cowboys won the game on a steal and dunk at the end of overtime that was dramatic and amazing. With every game that gets checked off the schedule, Dunk Town Laramie is beginning to look like a team of destiny.

CSU at Boise? I never ever want those ramholes to win a game. Screw them.
I understand why people have a hatred for CSU, but I still think CSU winning as many games as possible is the best thing going for Wyoming.

They are our only top-80 RPI win of the season, and it was on the road. Hoping for CSU to lose only makes our possible NCAA Tournament berth that much harder to reach.

Also interesting that CSU and SDSU are the only top-90 teams on our remaining schedule.

I might agree. Either way who wins there are good and bad things. CSU is closer to us in the standings so would be good to get some seperation and we beat BSU and don't have to play them again.
On the other hand we play CSU again at home which we will win(for our goals to be accomplished) while If Boise gets hot and goes on a major winning streak there is nothing we can do to stop them. So I thinkn BSU winning would be better for the standings if CSU wins thats cool too. Makes for a better showdown in a week.

There will never be a day I root for CSU. If they win and help us great, but I will always root for their opponent. I'll root for Nebraska long before the Sheep. If CSU never won another game I would never feel bad for them, I'd consider it winning the lottery.

Espn gamecenter said CSU had a technical foul with 2:30 to go and they were up by five and just lost. Scumbags

That's a big spread on the Wyoming game, especially since the Pokes average margin of victory in conference games is only 5.5 points. They have only covered the spread 6 times this year....not sure if the smart money might be on UNR to cover (Pokes still win, just not by 13).

GO AGGIES!

Utah State beating San Diego State would be great!

My picks for today: SDSU, Wyo, CSU, NM, UNLV
I hope that I am wrong about CSU and SDSU though.

I don't see any home teams losing this week...

With that said, I think air force and Fresno have the best chances to steal a win on the road

Pokes won.

SDSU is killing the Aggies. I guess we will be tied for first for a little while longer. Would have really loved to be up 1 on everyone.

NM killing San Jose.

CSU won.

Bring on the sheep wednesday!

If we can continue winning, and improving, we will have a chance at knocking SDSU off at their place. This team is getting one monkey off their back after another (beating the sheep in Ft. Collins, beating UNM, beating UNLV, and even AP top 25 depite being short lived). If any Wyoming team can, it's this one. Clean up the bad TOs, and dictate the tempo, we have a good shot of coming out on top this season.
