Game Day : New Mexico St. @ Wyoming ....

It's game day and today's game will tell us a lot more about this Wyoming team then the Colorado game or any other game has so far this season.

Colorado hasn't really played anyone else worth noting yet besides us that would give us a good gauge as to just how good they are. New Mexico St. on the other hand has. Other than playing some of the same teams Wyoming has and beating them just as bad as Wyoming did if not by more (N. Colorado, FAMU and Stetson) mainly because they play an up tempo style of basketball they have played some major competition in their losses.

They opened up the season with a loss at #9 ranked Wichita St. who jumped out to a 17 point lead at halftime and stayed ahead by 17-21 points most of the 2nd half and finished the game with a 71-54 win over NMSU. Wichita St. opened as a -12 point favorite to give an idea what Vegas was thinking at the time.

The Aggies 2nd loss was on the road at the St. Mary's Gaels from the WCC who seems to always be one of the top 3 teams along with Gonzaga and BYU in that conference and makes the NCAA tournament often. St. Mary's got out to a 14 point lead at halftime and then grew the lead to 21 points in the 2nd half before NMSU cut it back down to 8 before St. Mary's finished them off for a 12 point win 83-71. St. Mary's opened as a -
7 point favorite in this game.

Their 3rd loss was on the road last Saturday at UTEP which is a tough place to play as some of us older Wyoming fans remember. New Mexico State got out to a 12 point halftime lead and was up by 13 at one point but UTEP battled back and won the game by 1 point 77-76. UTEP is undefeated and just beat another undefeated team in Xavier yesterday at a tournament. Big win for UTEP. UTEP was a -7 point favorite.

So today's game to me will give us a better gauge as to what kind of team we have and where we are at during this point in the season. Can Wyoming win this game by double digits at home like a top ten team in Wichita St. did or another team like St. Mary's who looks to be a legit top 25 team? Wyoming is a -6.5 point favorite.

I am just hoping we escape with a win like Utep did but hoping we win more comfortably. If we win by double digits and keep a decent lead most of the game then I think we are a legit top 25 team most likely. Hope the fans come out and fill the Dome of Doom up. This should be a good game.

I think the advantage that Wyoming does have in this game is that NMSU likes to push the tempo more and Wyoming will be able to control the tempo so that will hopefully frustrate them. Let's get a big win today!

We'll be there in the AA, but I can't control the rest of it. Those that don't go will be missing a great atmosphere and game. We'll be leaving for Laramie before long.

I think 6.5 is a good line. This will be a definite test. The keys will be pace and rebounding.

Wish I could watch it live, but will be covering a game of my own. Will try to check in from time to time.

I hope the AA is rocking we really need to support this team going forward, How I wish I was in Laramie!

I have the game set to record at my house. Now the question is, do I keep track of the game on my phone while tailgating and sitting in student section before Civil War, or do I make sure no one updates me the score and wait til I am home to watch the game?

I will probably want something good to come home to after the Civil War...so I am going avoid wyonation and espn throughout the game and will watch it later.

Its on channel 1758 here in the Houston area.

My daughter said they had a Black Friday deal in tickets. The AA should be full!

One thing I was worried about heading in was our starters being a little rusty, they haven't been playing a lot together the last few games. Just didn't look as sharp on our finishes early. Our bench just gives us an immediate lift though which is nice. Seller's passing has looked great this year and if you don't play D you won't see the court under Shyatt. Let's pick it up Pokes!
