Curious: how'd you earn your WYO fan card?

Mom went to UW, born in Wyoming and had season tickets when I was young then moved to Billings and continued to go to a couple games a year, and now an Alum

At the great fog boarder war, i drilled the csu sgt of rotc in the head with a snowball. It was not an easy throw either.

That dude was pissed.

I wish i.could claim the burned grass at csu... but alas

Born and raised in WYOMING...PLUS....
Met in particular order....George Kay (TWICE), Dave Walsh, Kevin McKinney, Benny Dees, Joe Tiller, and Scott Downing (DC under Tiller).

Met Jeremy Gilstrap (best friend, UW TE from 1992-95), Brian Gragert (Punter from same period), Taylor Sorenson (kicker same period), and there's a few I can't remember.

Helped Jack Nokes with keeping a record of team and individual fouls during the 1990 Cowboy Shootout (needs to be restarted in Casper!)

Almost met Paul Roach but chickened out. Hey, I was a kid at the time.

Anyone top that?

Came out west to Colorado in 2002.

I always loved CFB but never had a team of my own that I could call mine. I never thought I would either.

First ever game I went to once I was out here was a CSU game in Ft. Collins.

I thought it was pretty cool -- but there was no carry over whatsoever when I left that game.

I was living in Denver and asked a friend of mine to take the trip up to Laramie with me for a game against Utah on November 16, 2002. My friend had to cancel at the last minute but I was determined to go - and did.

The stands that day were empty for the most part -- but I had a blast and I felt an immediate attachment to the team - they became my team during those 4 quarters, it was an experience for me and an awakening.

Been a Wyoming fan ever since.

The next game at New Mexico turned out to be Vic Koenning's last game at UW.

Liked Colorado but loved Wyoming more.

I was recently married at the time with no kids and told my wife if we ever had the opportunity to raise our family in Wyoming we needed to do it. We visited the state several times before we ever moved here and fell more in love with it each time we came here.

Arrived in Wyoming in 2012.

We never plan to leave.

My son Karson will be the Pokes starting quarterback in 2024.

Go Pokes.

P.S. The year before we came out to Wyoming I was still doing a national show with SiriusXM Radio. Much to the chagrin of my audience across the country who didn't give a rats ass about Wyoming football, I had a Friday segment each week with Robert Gagliardi to talk up the Pokes...the segments ran anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. Many in my audience we're annoyed when I would bring Robert on each week, but I didn't really care. I was talking Pokes football...I was having fun :thumb:

Painfully watched UNLV's Dalron Johnson slay our tourney hopes w/ a bank shot three pointer + countless games attended of all sports since before I can remember.

Born and raised in Wyo. Ripped down some goalposts during the Joe Glenn era. Moved out of State for a while. Moved to Laramie for a while. After dealing with the heat in Northern Wyo this summer - ready to move back to Laramie - or the Artic circle. Enough of the damn heat + smoke!

I only missed one home game in the 7 years I was in Laramie - that 2008 Utah game where I kept telling my girlfriend that I would run down and onside kick Kyle Whittinghams ass. Ended up chopping firewood that day instead.

Grew up in Rock Springs lived all over the state and been a Cowboys fan since I can remember. Been through every ass beating we've given and taken and never wavered from being a Cowboys fan.

My most cherished possession Cowboys Football autographed by the entire 1984 Cowboys team.

Born and raised in Gillette. Grandparents have been season ticket holder since before I remember. First game I ever attended was 1997 Vs CSU. Been to many games since and my grandad is a steer a year donor. Got a jacket for it at a game a few years back.

I'm probably the only person here who has zero connection to the state. I came over this way when Bohl was hired. People here have never forgiven me for that since, either...

I was born in Florida. Moved to Basin at six months old attended UW twice (BA and MA) all of that is nice but I earned my fan card by insighting a small to medium sized brawl at Sam-Boyd at the 1996 WAC championship game vs BYU. I may or may not have been drinking since breakfast and I may or may not have been wearing a shirt with various F-BYU phrases printed all over it. Such as "F Brigham and his horse" "F- Ski Utah" "F- Bees and their hive" "F-dressing up like Indians and attacking wagons" and most notably "F-U BYU". I may or may not have been repeating said phrases at a disproportionately high volume when for no reason at all a BYU fan tried to jump on me from 5 rows back. This led to my fellow Wyoming brethren to help (toss) him back to his seat. At this point things escalated quickly, in the ensuing mayhem I spilled my beer (possibly on Max Hall's mother). Thankfully cooler heads prevailed and the hubbub died down before we were removed from the stadium. That is how I got my fan card.

Got my master's degree at UW. I was an insanely studious graduate student and didn't go to any games until my last semester. Once I did I was hooked.

I don't post here much, but here is my spiel.

Came to Wyoming with my family when I was 9. Next year was the Fiesta Bowl - a ten year old was hooked. At 12 the family moved to Gillete and the migration to Laramie at 18 was natural for me.

1984-85, 85-86 lived in McIntyre Hall 2nd floor with some of the Bball team, Turk Boyd used to come over. We would go to the games early, usually we sent the youngest to get railing seats - those were the days of the newspapers flying (and the occasional banana when CSU came). The team was peaking again, and I got to see the NITs and Dembo sitting on the rim.

I was sailing in the Pacific when Erickson came for his year, but I was back to try and salvage my grades the year later, the glorious late 1980s. Conference titles, huge numbers, first lights game...

Took a 4 year leave after getting my MA in 1993, but since then I have back. Place is more important than money, and I don't do the corporate thing that well.

I am still here - I work for UW, I teach a class in History each semester, and I make sure that my class knows that (beyond history) the most important think in the world is UW sports.

Outside of those first 9 years, I am a lifer. Hell, I even gave Wyoming shirts to my nieces and nephews in Africa (my sister is a linguist there).

Raised in Casper. I watched the Cowboys on a black and white with bad reception when we were in the Sugar Bowl. I recall so vividly locals talking about this or that player committing to UW and difference makers. Going to out of state events with my family and they would talk about UW in the same breath as Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State etc., we were relevant. I had the first heart break learning about what was going on in Laramie with the Black 14 and thinking why did WYO take all this heat and fall apart when it was BYU's issue. I was at that game when UW smoked BYU and thinking, OK this might be a blip for this season and not realizing at my young age that this program would never really recover. Listening on the radio you have three choices: The KTWO network with Georke K and Jack Slauthauer, Birleffi from Cheyenne and Benson as a third. I remember listening to opp team's station once and they were commenting that the Cowboys had three networks that covered them and how big the following of the Cowboys was and the number of fans at that away game.

I was at UW from 73 to 80. Orr Hall in 73 and 74. Sneaking kegs of beer into the stadium. Other drinks in boots. Having your boots polished at the Beacon bar in Casper. I wrote for the sports section for the BI in 76 and 77. Had dinner at our frat house the night that the Cowboys got back in the top 20 in 1976 and receiving a call from Akers telling me that the Cowboys were back in and to get a story in the school paper. I thought all was good again. Akers soon left!

Moved to Colorado in 87, but I feel I never have left. I had my heart broke when UW gave up that big lead against CU in Boulder. Loved it when we beat them in 82. So may memories, Ken Morgan Clark ( the kid from Casper) the sweet 16, Tub Bradley, Dembo, the old Field House and razing Jim Williams from CSU. Running into Tarkenian at the Holiday Inn bar and listening to him whine about playing in the Field House. Walking into the AA for the first time.

Recently topping off the fan card with UW hiring Bohl, winning the MWC basketball tourney in Vegas with my CU cousin that quickly became a Pokes fan, Cowboys In Colorado, and now only 47 hours from leaving to make the drive up to Laramie with my neighbor that is from Evanston and we go to many games. His place is literally across the street and what luck to have a die hard fan so close to go to games with. My wife graduated from UW, but she doesn't get it and always comments about why I spend so much time and energy with the Pokes since they always break my heart, but not my spirit.. I'll be buried in Laramie facing the WAR. GO POKES

Raised in WYO and am an alumni of UW. Grew up watching many memorable Pokes in the War, Fieldhouse, and AA. Fan Card achieved by lugging and collecting stacks upon stacks of soda cups (the real deal large, plastic soda cups) at every game I attended. Gold UW soda cups. Best souvenir ever. (Anyone still have them stashed away somewhere?)

Attended the WAC Championship in Vegas and to this day, I still agree with Tiller!

Go Pokes!

Grew up in Cheyenne and Casper. When we lived in Cheyenne my parents would load up the Suburban with our family and however many more kids we could get in, and trek over to Laramie for the games. As kids we used to bounce back and forth between the game, and below the stadium to play football and imitate our favorite players. There were warm games and absolutely freezing games, which made them even colder when we were sitting at the top of the stadium with no wind block. We also have three generations of Wyoming grads including my brother, and myself. My grandpa built the Chuckwagon on 3rd St. and ran it for a number of years. The brand on the sign still belonged to my grandfather before he passed. The CK stands for Cliff Kuskie.

I get crap all the time from my friends and wife because my wardrobe is very much brown and gold. I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
