Tuttle is a God, We're so talented, blah, blah blah. Wyoming shouldn't even be in the tournament, etc.

I hope their team is as overconfident as their fans. They're already penciling themselves into the sweet 16.

No doubt Tuttle is a great player and has earned his accolades. His numbers are almost as good as Nance's.

I'm really looking forward to this game. Looking forward the Pokes getting some rest and to some game-planning by Shyatt. I'd say that Tuttle isn't the biggest threat on their team, even though his 16 points per game are double any other players. The threat is those 7 guys that score 5-7 points a game. They find open guys. When you double Tuttle, they'll find the open guy.

Nance and company should be able to guard Tuttle but like you said, can we also defend the 3 ball? I think we can.

My concern is scoring. UNI plays tough defense too. Nance and Adams will have to get us points and then we need all 3 of Grabau, Cooke, and Hankerson to contribute like they did in the MWC.

Clearly this is going to be a good game. Something special about these Pokes though...it's gonna take a hell of an effort to knock us out. I don't see us getting beat easy until we are just totally outclassed by depth and athleticism, which would be later rounds. Lets do this how we do and win by 2.

This is what I think.

Nothing against UNI, but I don't see them winning 25 games in the MWC like we did.
Our OOC schedule is like their conference schedule.
They play like us. So we will not be shocked by what we see. Shyatt knows how to win. Shyatt knows how to coach. That guy says he has copied Shyatts D-schemes in the past. Tuttle is like Avila. Talented. But not even close to Nance IMO.
Hankerson is rolling. Grabau is rolling. And Russell Westbrook..err... I mean Josh Adams is too much for anyone right now.
Not to mention they are coming off a 2 week lay off. I am willing to bet we have far more fans at the game than they do.

And I bet SDSU is better than them. And maybe Boise too honestly.

I mentioned this on a different post but I truly believe that the top 5-6 teams in the MWC would have 30 wins (minimum) against the same schedule. SDSU may very well have gone undefeated. On the flip side, UNI would have 2-5 more losses had they played in the MWC. I think we are the more prepared team going into Friday.

Tuttle is a nice player for sure but he isn't the best player we have played against this year or any other year Nance and our seniors have been here. They had a great season so I can understand their optimism. I like coach Jacobsen and their team . Like Shyatt says they do it the right way. I am sure most of their fans are nice people and just excited just like we are.

Honestly N. Iowa is going to be playing a team which is basically like them but more athletic. Wyoming is disciplined and plays defense and doesn't turn the ball over the same a N. Iowa we just have more athletic guys. They have some guys that can shoot the 3 ball but basically they are like Boise St. shooting it from 3 . Boise and N. Iowa shoot the same percentage from 3 point land just about. Boise has 5 guys that shoot over 40% from 3 and 7 guys that shoot it above 37% from 3.

This will be like playing a slower version of Boise St. with more discipline. What I mean slower is slower paced game. Boise likes to run a little bit more but both teams are great at shooting from outside and both teams have multiple shooters.

Boise has Derrick Marks and N. Iowa has Seth Tuttle.

Should be a close game and either team could win.

I mentioned this on a different post but I truly believe that the top 5-6 teams in the MWC would have 30 wins (minimum) against the same schedule. SDSU may very well have gone undefeated. On the flip side, UNI would have 2-5 more losses had they played in the MWC. I think we are the more prepared team going into Friday.

Yeah . Utah St. beat Illinois St. at Illinois St. by 5. Of course I don't know if anyone was missing players from that game but it was also the first game of the year.

Just read the newer posts there. They are REALLY underestimating Wyoming's fanbase size and thinking that all our fans are in Wyoming and that it's not even that many here. Not to mention on this board alone, there are over 1100 registered users. Sure, some are from the occasional non-Wyoming fan, but I think 99% are Wyoming fans.

They also seem to think that just because we don't swarm their board, that we don't have a large fanbase.

And the irony of Newsbreaker's post?

I find I it interesting almost all their talk is centered around how UNI stops them, how UNI plays Nance, and the special things UNI needs to do to win. Almost no talk of how they're going to play our All-American, who plays his position in a way they've never seen, and who may well be the best player their big man has had to deal with. Virtually no talk of what they expect to do against our superior guards in a guard tournament. Few worries about our coach, who is widely regarded as one of the best in the game.

They think they know what to expect with Adams. The only team to actually slow down Adams was SDSU, and that was because of their length and athleticism at nearly every position. But he still got 10 points. Against Boise and USU? He rattled off 20+ points in both games.

And they think they can use their bench? So did SDSU, BSU, and nearly every team we have faced. And look how well it worked for them.

I don't think 5 or 6 teams would have had 30 wins with the same schedule from the MWC :lol: That is going a little overboard i think. San Diego St. , Boise St. , Wyoming, CSU all would have. Not sure about anyone else. Possibly Utah St. but not sure about that.

First of all... The best big our big has had to deal with is not Tuttle. It's Larry Nance Senior. Nance JR has seen EVERYTHING a big is going to do. His dad has taught him well.
Second of all... Superior guards. LOL Josh fucking Adams. Deal with it.

Finally. The reason we aren't as concerned with your coach is because HE ADMITS TO LEARNING FROM OUR COACH.

None of their guards are superior to Adams. That is hilarious :lol:

I know they say they have played against Ron Baker and van Vleet at Wichita and both of them are tremendous players. Not saying Josh is better or worse than either of them but neither one of them is anything like Adams athletic wise. Two different types of players though. That is why people that watch Adams say he is one of the funnest players in college to watch and why he gets compared to Nick Johnson from Arizona a lot.

Unlv talent would steam roll MVC even with Dave Rice coaching. Even with Dave CHRISTENSEN coaching!

UNLV has far more talented players than anyone in that League top to bottom but UNLV's coaching is so terrible I don't think they would have won 30. If they had the right coach then yeah. With the right coach they could have won 30 in the MWC. New Mexico I don't think would have either this year. They are missing their big guys from last year.
