Chris Boucher

So just found out from looking at an Iowa St. forum that one of the guys who gets the inside scoops on their basketball recruiting from the coaches and whoever else says this ... he quoted " RECRUITING: Chris Boucher tidbit
Not crazy about Iowa State's chances here. Not sure about Iowa State's interest either. It's a fluid deal but I wouldn't hold your breath. "

So sounds like Iowa St. might be out of the picture.

Hope his coach sways him to Wyoming.
Good lord I pray he has fallen in love with our state and the coaching staff. He would be a monstrous signing. Program altering, next level potential. Couple him with our current players, sprinkle in our incoming class and we'll be a scary team.

Yeah I hope so. He is actually taking a visit to Texas Tech this weekend. Then I believe he has one more visit scheduled after that. If he doesn't commit after this weekend then our chances go up a little bit more.

Chris Boucher is visiting Minnesota the last week of April.

Right now Texas Tech and Minnesota have the inside track on him. If he somehow doesn't commit to either one of them and he takes a visit to Wyoming then we have a chance but I think it will be pretty tough. Think there is a good chance he goes to Texas Tech.

Not sure how long Wyoming wants to hold out before trying to get the best big available but they will have to wait at least until the end of the month if they want to hold a spot for Boucher and they may wait and still not end up with him.

This is true, but sometimes it works the other way around. Sometimes these kids hold out so long that there are no more scholarships available.

I'm not doubting you, just curious what source you're pulling from that says Texas Tech is his likely destination. We heard Iowa State was going to be his school and then suddenly it wasn't. What or where are you hearing this?

It looks Justin James and Andrew Moemeka's teammate, Dontay Bassett has Wyoming in his top 3. He is a solid 6'9" power forward who Wyoming has been on a while now. And, is listed as a 3* or 4* recruit with a lot of offers.

As of right now, Wyoming may have up to two scholarships available. Would you guys prefer signing both Bryce Peters and Bassett next year as freshman? Or, would you prefer signing Boucher?

I don't think we can go wrong either way.

My biggest concern is what happens if all three choose UW? I don't think we go wrong with any two of the three. I do think we have a good chance of getting all three and I am concerned as to how that plays out....

What a great problem to have! I'll worry about it if it happens

Yes.

Just kidding, but only slightly. I think you have to recruit with the expectation that you will lose at least one to attrition next year. We aren't going to land Boucher, but I still think we sign someone this spring. Even with that, I expect the Pokes to sign 2 in the fall even if Adams in the only senior on paper.

I never thought he would go to Iowa St. honestly. I am basing my thoughts on everything I have read over multiple sources. I don't have any inside info or anything so I could be wrong but from everything I have read his top 2 choices are Minnesota and Texas Tech. I think he will go to Texas Tech because of Tubby Smith honestly. Texas Tech just signed one of the top JUCO PG's in the country. I think there is a good chance that Tubby lands Boucher.

Wyoming , Oregon St. and Washington St. are long shots for him on his list of 6 teams. Iowa St. never really had much of a shot because they were so late on him (later than Wyoming was). If he was that interested in Wyoming he would have most likely already scheduled a visit.

If Wyoming were to land him it would be a shock to me honestly but a great shock. I just don't see it happening.

I would love to get Bryce Peters and Basset though. That would be two nice pick ups for sure.

The fact that we aren't on the list of official visits.

We weren't on Austin Conways "official visits" list either. Yet we all know he took a visit here. Boucher's coach already said he wants a visit here, and as long as a school doesn't blow him away on their visit he is going to schedule one.

Not sure where you got that. The reports for Conway were that he took officials to IU, Rice, and Wyoming. There were articles published detailing his official visit to UW.

Boucher on the other hand, has taken an official to TCU and is scheduled to take official visits to Minnesota and Texas Tech.

It really doesn't matter what I say, so by all means stay optimistic, but from my perspective when a prospect's coach flat out states the following:

Code:
"There are a couple others, Washington State and Wyoming are still kind of hanging on but Chris is going to look at these other schools first, and if he doesn't like them then he could change his mind but I think he's kind of narrowed it to getting a couple visits in the next couple weeks and then go from there."

..well, that doesn't bode well for our chances.

You can't blame the kid and it's pretty obvious his goal is an NCAA Tournament appearance and he has taken the steps to prepare himself for that. Would I like to see him in Laramie sure I would but his goals we are an after thought. Either way I hope he succeeds whatever he chooses.

I would rather get a fifth year senior and be able to sign Peters and maintain our Oldsmar pipeline with Bassett. Olsdmar is like our Findley Prep for UNLV right now.

ive listened to a number of the interviews with the coach. He has a ton of coach speak. It seems whatever school or fan base is interviewing him, he tends to answer in a favorable manner towards them. I'm certainly not saying he's for sure a poke or a gopher or anything. I just think the coach is running some smoke screen for him, as he should. If he is wanting a NCAA run UW is as good an option as he has.
We have a good chance still

Well we may still have a really really slim chance but I just saw what Tom Lacock said when looking at the other board and if anyone knows about recruiting for Wyoming Tom is the guy. Hope he doesn't mind me quoting him but this is what he said on the other board regarding Chris Boucher.

"I spoke to someone who might know today and the prevailing thought is while there is an effort to at least talk to Boucher, I wouldn't get your hopes up. He is a Canadian with no real ties to Wyoming and is unlikely to give a break to the home state. I would probably just move on to another prospect if I were scoring at home."

So based on Tom speaking with someone and Boucher not planning a visit with us yet I would say our chances are very very slim.

Maybe we will all get a surprise though. Won't hold my breath for it. Think the coaches probably already have their eye on someone else.

Neither Texas Tech or Minnesota are in Canada either. Minnesota might be a little closer than Wyoming - depending on what part of Canada he is from. I doubt either place has better facilities or coaches than Wyoming. We were in the NCAA tourney this last time.
I doubt anyone knows anything about his decision, but if I were the Wyoming coaches, I wouldn't wait very long for his decision.
