Signing Day / Transfer Portal

Speaking of loyalty and serious question, were these guys recruited by UW?

Crazy to see this is still going on.

I graduated from Sheridan High School in 2004. Even back then, Montana State frequently had coaches at our games and a few practices. I don’t recall UW ever being a presence in the program.

Austin Hall, who ended up playing OLB for Wyoming, was a couple years older than me and also from Sheridan. UW did not enter the picture until very late in the game and only did because the SHS coaching staff hounded them to consider him.

Yes, Coon, Steel's, and Vigen have all played this year. All pretty young, would imagine they'll get more PT in coming years. Gonna be tough for Colson Coon to be RB1, Cats have a freshman RB from Missoula that had a really good season. Dane Steel buried on the depth chart too, but also young.
Watched a little one of MSU's ganes. Coon was playing behind the starter but was really good as well. The tv broadcasters even mentioned he was from Sheridan.

It is going to be a tough few days until the portal closes. I just hope the bleeding stops soon.
I check the NCAA portal occasionally. I was thinking that Wyoming was doing pretty good keeping the kids and that there hasn't been too bad of an exodus. It even seems like the coaching staff has done a good job recruiting. Am I missing something (which I totally could be)? I actually feel pretty good about where we are right now. Fingers crossed.

Eh, the Basin has always been a bit isolated from the rest of the state. Growing up in Powell I felt zero connection or ties to Cheyenne or Laramie. That included the University of Wyoming.

If the Cody kid has no family ties to UW why is he obligated to go play for coaches everyone on this board is ripping when he has the opportunity to play for a better coach?
According to one of the kid's coaches, he was offered late, never strongly recruited by UW.

Makes sense...remember, not every person is entering the portal because THEY want to leave. Sometimes they are told to go.

With the JUCO rule change, add Jamari Ferrell and Tyrecus Davis to names entering the portal.

Wyoming kept its three most important players IMO (Kaden Anderson, Waylee and Gyllenborg) and a really talented Chris Durr. I’d say it was a successful winter portal season; realistically though, most of the players would
not have been FBS targets had they entered given the reduced team numbers. So I am not surprised our portal entries weren’t very high.

I kind of hope Tyrecus Davis changes his mind and stays at Wyoming (assuming there is space). He was big in the last few games.

I still don’t have faith in this coaching staff to have the team prepared to play weekly and to manage the game. But hope I am wrong. The slowed down offensive gameplans for the Boise and Wazzu games give me a glimmer of hope.

True. Several players were notified they wouldn’t have a spot on the team. But in our only all MWC First Team Player TK King’s case, clearly talent wasn’t the reason he may have been asked to leave.

I'd add Harsch and Parks to the list of important players we need to keep. Those two are key to having a solid defense next year, especially with having to replace both linebackers and safeties.

Davis is good, and it'd be cool if he stayed, but I think the reason he was in on so many plays was that offenses threw his way a lot. We might be able to upgrade that position.

Yes, I think Parks was underrated. It didn't seem they threw his way a lot, and when they did, there wasn't much separation.

Harsh is great when he is healthy. He just doesn't seem to be able to stay healthy through a whole year. I would love to see him have a full healthy off-season and year next year.

I would add not being able to lose any defensive tackles. With the graduations and Jaden Williams gone, there will be a lot to replace.
