LOL...More like a Yogi Berra-ism. I'm sure what he was thinking made sense, but it came out wrong. That's okay....he's not paid to be a mathematician.LasCrucesPoke said:Dude, me too. I was thinking that's gotta be a tom osbornism

Definitely sounds funny. I think he was trying to say that teams a lot of times beat themselves by making dumb mistakes or dumb turnovers. Just my interpretation though.

One thing I noticed from the article was the comment about a glimpse into the QB depth chart. I think Vorel misinterpreted what was going on when he noticed the order of reps taken.WYO1016 said:Vigen: Move from NDSU to Wyoming "liberating". Plus depth chart notes:

He saw Kirk. go first and Thornton second to start the 7 on 7 drill and assumed those two had been slotted as one and two. What he wasn't aware of though, is the coach broke the QB's into two groups and had KIrk. and Young in a group with the "1's and 2's" and Thornton and Stratton with the "3's and 4's". Kirk. happened to start the session for his group and then they alternated to the other group which then Thornton led off.
Easy mistake, but I know that Kirk. and Young spent all of Saturday in that same group of offensive players out on the field the entire practice and never switched with the other guys inside.
Good stuff, thanks for the report!jcueva6 said:yeah saturday Young and Kirk got the "1's" reps. they alternated for about 35 plays and then later on Stratton, Thornton and whoever the third guy is TJ i think split the "2's" reps they got about 30 as well.
Kirk is not forcing things although check downs every throw might get old for coach, young hasn't made mistakes just likes to take shots and throw them up, coach wants a bit more control from him. so they're about neck and neck, in terms of Positives and negatives.
"...mathematical incongruity...salient point..." I like THAT! Couldn't have said it better myself!WyoExpat said:J-Rod said:LOL...More like a Yogi Berra-ism. I think it made perfect sense. The mathematical incongruity is what makes one focus on the more salient point that is self-focused rather than opponent-focused. I like it.
I agree. And also, if it's 3rd and 8 and nothing is there, maybe dumping it off and letting the running back try and make one guy miss and pick up the first down for a new set of downs and another opportunity to make that big throw. It's a tough choice for Young right now since he's shown to have a better passing skill set. Maybe he needs to play it a little safer as he gets on the same page with the receivers.J-Rod said:Good stuff, thanks for the report!jcueva6 said:yeah saturday Young and Kirk got the "1's" reps. they alternated for about 35 plays and then later on Stratton, Thornton and whoever the third guy is TJ i think split the "2's" reps they got about 30 as well.

Interesting.....still a long way to go, but that's a tough call for Bohl and co. Go with the guy who plays it too conservative, or the guy who takes one too many risks. Young will have to be careful....all signs from Bohl are that TO's are a good way to end up on the bench.
