Well in the case of Nebraska scheduling Wyoming the answer is a little bit different. It's a three-game series, with two of them at home (the next in 2017 I believe), and the third being a bit of a good-will gesture to the fans in western Nebraska.
The simple answer to why everyone schedules cream puffs is money - guaranteed home games that rake in the dollars. Also, everyone does it because everyone is doing it.
what if,and it's a big what if, the smaller schools denied the bucks and said no we don't want to play you anymore, that'll change the NCAA somewhat, unless they started with a 2 for 1 schedule, I'm sure Neb didn't really want to come to Laramie in the long run but needed some games to pad their stats b4 their conference sked starts...never happen but what if...$$$ that's why I say it's Minor League of the NFL anymore
