WYO Hoops 2014-15 Articles/Notes/Quotes/Pics/Videos

Im reading between the lines here.... just my own feeling on this. Recuiting happened this week.

There may be a chance that a jc is going to be a late enrollee this semester, falling on this years scollie allotment. And maybe eric turner changed his mind.

I could be way wrong, and probably am. I dont know if its possible. But i just dont see him leaving unless it helps the team.

It wouldn't be anything like that. Due to Diontae Jones' departure at the beginning of the season the Pokes already have a scholarship open for a midseason transfer.

They are projected to be full for next year however (which is why we probably won't see a midseason transfer) based on the November signings but Sellers' departure doesn't impact next year since he was a senior anyway.

I think this is probably as simple as him deciding to move on.

Oh well, I was never really a big Sellers fan.

The timeline of this... so weird. It probably is a simple family hardship... maybe his wife's family needs them closer.

But the damn timing. What about a transfer that has to sit out a year?

Really, what ever the reason, i wish the seller's family a good journey. He earned my thanks.

Sellers was a senior, so a transfer would be kind of pointless.

I highly doubt anything happens with his schollie.
 
After the player introductions on Saturday, we should totally do a fallen tributes memorial. Hunger Games style. Sellers, maybe throw Jones in there too, with a cannon going off for each of them as their name and face show on the video boards.

On a more serious note, I wish sellers the best. Doesn't appear to be caused by anything serious and he wasn't a major contributor, so I don't see the team being affected mentally at all. Rotation doesn't change much either. Absolutely worst case scenario we pull the redshirt on Williams, but I don't see that happening. We have a solid 3 man rotation with Barnes available to give the starters a quick breather.

But yeah I think Barnes will be playing more. I think it will be a good thing. Idk why but I have a good feeling about him. I think he may be a bit more productive than we thought if given the chance.

That's a little harsh. Nobody knows what's going on in his life. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision, and I wish him the best.

If its not quitting, what is it? I understand the grind of being a newlywed, but he made a commitment to his basketball family too. That said, I agree that we know nothing of the inner workings of the situation. Either way, next up step up. GO POKES!
 
Let me get this straight, not that long ago, people like Beav wanted Sellers to go because they thought he was a waste of a scholly. Now, when he does decide to go, he gets criticized for it? The fuck do you want from him? To go to the local bar, knock someone to the ground, and kick their face in to get kicked off the team?
 
Nobody here knows what his personal life is like......and for us to speculate is unfair to Mr and Mrs Sellers

I didnt want him gone. I thought he could contribute and give DC and Nance breaks. Even if i did want him gone I would have wanted it before the season so we could have had a replacement. Not with 12 games left of your senior year.

Talk about a real waste of a scholly.

The problem is that the scholarship is and has been unavailable for the year. If he was going to quit, would have been much better to do so over the summer so we could have used the scholarship. Now it sits wasted.

How do you see Saturday's game unfolding at Wyoming, and what will be some things you will be looking for?

New Mexico is at its best when Delaney attacks the rim. That is when things tend to open up a bit for the rest of the offense and Greenwood isn't then asked to create his own shot. Defensively, the Lobos defend the 3-pointer well overall, but have had some of their worst defensive games on the perimeter in the past two weeks. They seem to be vulnerable from the arc at times. When focused, the Lobos are still capable of beating the best in the Mountain West, but their margin for error is slim. Picking up the UNLV win on this road trip took pressure off them for this game, which could help. It's still a tall order asking this inexperienced team to get out of Laramie with a win, though.
