Cowboys ready to ramp up energy, excitement with Colorado today (WyoSports.net)

“We’re trying to approach (this game) the same way as any other game. But with Colorado being a good team and all that, we’re all a little on edge and anxious,” junior guard Josh Adams said.

UW is promoting the game as a “Gold Out,” as fans are encouraged to wear gold attire, and also as a sellout. As of Friday, approximately 2,600 tickets remained for sale.

UW coach Larry Shyatt agreed this game has a different feel than the previous two, but added that once it starts, it will come down to a few key things for his team.

Wyoming aims to match Colorado's physicality in non-conference test

Larry Nance Jr. could only think of one word to describe Saturday's non-conference game against Colorado.

But sometimes, one word is all you need.

“As usual it’s going to be a physical…I keep using the word ‘dogfight,’ but that’s what it’s going to be," Nance said.

On Saturday afternoon, the painted area will be no place for the meek. Colorado's front line features the likes of Josh Scott (6-foot-10, 245 pounds), Wesley Gordon (6-9, 240) and Xavier Johnson (6-7, 240). They are as long as they are skilled.

But Nance isn't intimidated.

In another big win today, Wyoming pounded Colorado in Laramie 56-33. The Cowboys suffocated Colorado with defense, only allowing the Buffaloes to shoot 27.9 percent from the field. But beyond that, coach Larry Shyatt has this team rolling right now on offense. Wyoming assisted on EVERY ONE of its made field goals tonight, getting pristine ball movement from everyone on the floor. No one is selfish on this team, but with Josh Adams and Larry Nance they also have guys who can take over if necessary.

Given what we've seen out of New Mexico and UNLV so far this season, Wyoming might be the second-best team in the Mountain West right now. Colorado State is also in the running for that label, but I think I'd probably take Wyoming over the Rams right now after watching that game. UNLV and possibly even Boise State will eventually get into that discussion, but the Cowboys absolutely deserve an A+ for their performance this afternoon against a team that seems likely to make the NCAA Tournament.

Wyoming attempts to avoid letdown, turns attention to Florida A&M

How do you follow that?

On Saturday afternoon, inside a festive Arena-Auditorium, the Wyoming Cowboys crafted a masterpiece. Against a Colorado team that had plowed through its first two opponents with a combination of size and athleticism, Wyoming was not intimidated.

After leading by two points at halftime, head coach Larry Shyatt's team executed an impromptu defensive clinic in the second half -- swallowing up loose balls, displaying selfless interior defense and swarming with numbers to the defensive glass.

Cowboys dish 'em out in opening games (WyoSports.net)

LARAMIE – The University of Wyoming men’s basketball strives to be unselfish every time it takes the floor.

The Cowboys have shown that in their first three games. They have assists on 64 of their 72 baskets, and assisted on all 22 of their field goals in Saturday’s 56-33 home victory over Colorado.

UW (3-0) hopes to keep that going when it hosts Florida A&M (0-4) at 7 p.m. today at the Arena-Auditorium.

“Every single person on this team gets more excited when they see somebody else doing good as opposed to themselves,” said junior guard Josh Adams, who had a game-high seven assists against Colorado.
