Who thinks Burman is any good?

Wrong. Facilities help attract recruits and coaches.
While I personally would much rather my money go to facilities than players, it is entirely clear that money attracts recruits and coaches. If everything else is equal, maybe nice dining facilities and locker rooms tip the scale. But recruits are going where they stand to make the most money plain and simple.

Isn’t it all for naught if we still suck? I believe coaching matters more than anything else , by far. We should be spending more on coaching salaries, imo. Of course that means nothing if you have an idiot like Burman hiring those coaches. And he is an idiot surrounded by idiots that accept mediocrity

I agree. Moving forward, I think it's time to shift spending away from facilities and extra staff and into NIL. But I don't regret having nice facilities now. Some of our competition won't ever catch up.

So, quality facilities=suck? Also, does coaching salaries=winning? There's the black and white thinking I was talking about.

Being ahead of our future competition of the UTEP’s, SJSU’s and Nevada’s of the world…is being the world’s tallest midget really something worth boasting about?

When Burman started in his role, Utah, BYU and TCU were our competition. Have you seen their facilities?

I just don’t see a lot to be excited about where our athletic programs have ended up during Burman’s tenure. I’m not even sure it is worth the continued investment at this point.

What conference situation did we miss out on? The new pac? We play most of those teams now and it's not roses. Who are you gong to miss playing? usu? suds? fresneck? usu? Maybe just me, but I honestly don't care. Now, if you're talking about missing out on big12, then yeah, we really botched it. Since bsu didn't get into the big12, I'm not sure there is a scenario where that would have been possible. Like bowl games, there aren't many great options.

Lack of winning culture (and yes obviously winning) is TB's failure and why we should have changed years ago.

The PAC, as dumb as it was to pay the exit fees for that, is miles better than than our new garbage conference. Lack of a winning culture is the direct reason those schools are no longer our conference peers.

The old world of college football is dead. I hate it, but it is. So, being ahead of Nevada, UTEP, and SJSU is good. I'd like to see Tom gone now so we can walk into the new conference with a clean slate. I have no confidence he can win championships in the new league.

Utah, BYU, and TCU were already ahead of us when Burman got here. He didn't close the gap in facilities, and he didn't beat them.

I disagree. It's way more complicated than that. It's some mixture of $, school, geography, the coaching staff, winning, and a bunch of other stuff like where the kid's girlfriend is.
You should take a look at Boise. From a juco to a national brand because they focused on winning before all else.

I’m amazed at some of the love for Burman. I’m guessing some of these folks haven’t walked into the completely dead AA in a few years or haven’t looked at the difference in conference opponents from when Burman started until next year. We are officially in a Big Sky level conference don’t let the name ‘Mountain West’ confuse you.

Oh - and wow those great seats on the lower west side of the War look so nice being continually empty.
Failure again. Corporate $$$ ticket buying = shit attendance. There needs to be a portal set up to put your tickets in, if not going, and they either get given away or sold - to be used. 40 open seats around me on Saturday this past weekend - within the just a few rows. AA all over again.

It's awful. I've been repeating this on here since the year after the AA reseating. It would be extremely simple to have a portal set up to donate the tickets back so they can be distributed to the Boys and Girls Club, Laramie High School, etc.. This would be the easiest way to build the Cowboy fanbase (because I, as well as many others, became Cowboy fans by being a poor middle/high school student purchasing $5 knot hole tickets back in the day).

The worst part is - they have already created a simple feature on the App to SELL your tickets through Seat Geek but have absolutely refused an obvious donation option. Instead, the AA and War have been ruined. Congrats Athletic Department!!

But it’s not black and white - tom Burman has done a good job !!!!!!!! (Sarc)

Is there a way to drop a jpg in here? It's a chart showing facilities spending for Wyoming vs Boise since 2005.

Again, I'm not saying facilities spending equals winning. It's more complex than that. But there's a correlation. They outspent us 4:1 in 2024.

It also impacts the game. When the lower West side was full and loud, fans were able to get into the heads of the opposing team and were also able to frustrate the communication on the opponent's sideline. Pretty sure you can hear a pin drop now. Opponents must love how accommodating we are to them. We have freely given up a big home field advantage.

It's appalling to me how short sighted an athletic department can be really. This should be so fundamental. But hey, Burman supports coal with black uniforms, give him a raise and an extension.

As far as aspirations of moving to a better conference, Boise's problem has been and continues to be academics. Their academics are like a trade school.
