Good article. Basically, expect Kirkegaard to start, but eventually be replaced if he stinks up the joint.

So in other words, expect multiple starters this season.

This just sounds more like the 08 squad... I really hope we don't digress back to that.
It's Bohl's first year. With Brett declaring and Thompson transferring, he'll put in whoever is working the best.

You're just lickin' your chops waitin' for #16 to take the field so you can tell everyone, "Told ya so!" :P

No, I understand that. All I'm saying is despite this being Bohls first year and our great strides in the weight room, this team just very similar to the 08 squad. I think we may have a similar season to that. We had no clearance cut QB, shoot we played 4 in one game in 08, I'm not saying we do that this year, but we may have a 3 to 4 QB rotation this year, and we may be just as inaccurate and int heavy as that year. Our RBs Wick and May have the potential to be another Moore and Seldon, but even Lightning and thunder couldn't win us but 4 games that year, mainly because we had a weak O line, just like this year. Our D may be our strength this year, just like it was in 08, but if our O is 3 and out over and over like 08, no matter how well conditioned we are, we will be waring down in the second halves. And on top of it all, this is one of our toughest schedules in years.
All in all, just looking at our roster now and it's similarities I just see us having an 08 type season. My hope is we don't. I think if Bohl can work a miracle we may hit 6 wins this year, but we will need a lot of things to work out the right way.
So don't label me a Downer, I'm just a realist. We have 7 winnable games on the schedule, but our recent history has shown that we don't win all our winnable games.
A lot of questions will be answered come the first game.

That's a fair assessment. Neutral opinion from magazines and such seems to be around 4-8 or 5-7. I think the season could go well or south based on those three crucial home games vs. Montana, Air Force, and Florida Atlantic. Losing any one of those three games could spell trouble. If they sweep those games, then the @Hawaii game will set the tone for the 2nd half of the season, positive or negative. @Hawaii is this season's Colorado State game...could lift the team to a bowl game or send them down a similar path to 2013.

JMO of course....but my predictions...

Everything goes Bohl's way in year #1.....8-4 (the homer prediction)
Pokes trade the good with the bad all season, but manage to meet expectations......4-8 through 6-6. (realistic prediction)
Everything goes wrong at QB and in the trenches.....2-10 (the please god no prediction)

TBH I just want to see us cover the spread on Oregon & MSU or at least the one I bet on, Made a bundle last year betting Wyoming to cover against Nebraska. Everyone called me crazy to place the bet but it paid off!

Kirkegaard was a very good QB. He hasn't really had a chance here, so it'll be interesting to see if the new system works for him. Knowing you're the starter going into the season, with the support of your coaches and teammates, is much better than getting thrown in every once and a while, obviously. I think he'll do well. We have to remember, our previous staff was really stupid and had no idea how to coach this as a team sport. All the parts moving in the same direction towards the common goal and all that. The game plan was "let's hope our QB has a great game and we out score them". This will not be the objective Kirkegaard gets each game. We have a real Head Coach coach now. The early part of the season will be rough with two top ten teams, an always tough Air Force, an improving Florida Atlantic program and Montana, who isn't going to roll over for anyone. But I think we're all going to like what we see, a staff firing all their bullets.

How on earth do you figure that? Kirkegaard career stats are below, and his lone start resulted in Wyoming's only loss to an FCS school in program history. He hasn't proven he's good, let alone very good.

Sorry, I meant pre-Wyoming in high school and JC.

36 passes at Wyoming is hardly enough to judge someone's quality. And as much as the Cal Poly game hurt, you can't blame that on the QB. He hit over 60% of his passes, but we couldn't get a ground game going. Our play calling was it's normal shit and Cal Poly killed us with time of possession. A stat the last staff never worried about...

Plus, what's with our defense giving up that many points to an FCS team, and at home? That loss was a team effort.

read this article on norv turner, kinda a qb genius. it helps me have a greater understanding of what is needed for a qb to execute... if vigen can teach like this, then we should be able to produce a qb from what we have...

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/269149821.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

qbs that norv turner coached...

troy aikman
brad Johnson
Kerry Collins
doug flutie
phillip rivers

each of those qbs had career years while under his tutelage

what im trying to say is... look at that list... all those qbs had different skill sets. tall, short, big arm, small arm, quick, slow, smart, dumb.

turners ability to maximize the production from any type is what we need.

I hope vigen is that kinda guy.

Let's give Kirkegaard a chance under a new coach. I kind of think everyone besides ACS & Smith got shoved aside while DC was here until ACS or Smith got hurt and then they got thrown into the fire. I wouldn't be surprised if Kirkegaard doesn't look totally different under a new coach and a new system. That's probably the reason Pittser left.

I think pittser left cause of smith. That's all. I dont think pittser felt the heat of kirkegaard. Just my opinion.

Pittser's problem was that he couldn't read defenses as well as Smith and wasn't as dynamic. Probably an all around better arm, but that's only about 1/3 of what makes a QB good.

I think Pittser would have done well here under Bohl. Strong arm. Offense is closer to what he ran in HS. Doesn't need to be as "dynamic".

Agreed. Pittser didn't fit in spread. He needed more cowBohl.
