Vegas odds.....

Joe Dooley would use UW for a stepping stone and show would Billy G.

And? Look, if we hire a top assistant no matter who he is, and he has success, chances are the "big boys" will come calling with more money, better facilities, etc. I'm ok with that, and here's why: If those big boys do come calling, it means that our coach gave them something worth considering. That means wins, plain and simple. Probably means at least a couple of NCAA appearances, and at least a conference championship or two. It also means that he will have probably shown that consistently over several years. If we bring in a guy that can do that, and he leaves for greener pastures eventually, I'm ok with that.

The catch to that is that we'd need to find someone to replace him. But with a winning program that the guy would leave, that prospect is quite a bit easier. And hopefully by then the administration will have stepped up with salary, etc.

Would I rather have a guy that will stay for 20 years and build a solid program a la Coach K? Sure, but I'll take the short term success on the road to building a winning program that will bring in the next good coach.

GO POKES!

I agree I have no problem with a coach leaving to a bigger program if they bring conference championships to UW. If UW has competive teams revenue increases and if a coach (lets say BCG) wins and moves on, the funds to pay a quality replacement are in place. Everyone wants a coach who will stay long term but that doesn't happen much anymore (unless your a top tier program or you are tied in with a religous school).

Again, I don't care who is coaching at UW as long as he brings in mwc championship, its been a decade since we have been competive in the two major sports at UW (and that is long enough).
