I know this will be controversial but I am growing tired of him being on the field so much before games and it being highlighted by the media. You retired and I understand your son is the DC. Give him a hug, tell him your are proud of him, and then head off to the Wildcatter. It is weird that he turned over the program to your DC and looks like you are still trying to run the program form the shadows.

Go lead the coaches NCAA wide and cheer for your son and the Brown and Gold form the stands. You are just a proud parent now and be ok with it

Maybe he is just learning the players names and such, so he can come in and replace Sawful for the last 1/2 of the season (EDIT: 3/4's of the season), and then until a new AD and coach are hired. Hahahaha

Completely agree. Its a bad look having him seen on the field now. Sawful has a difficult enough time each saturday without having the old coach lurking around.

I don't know about controversial....everybody has thier preferences. For me, I don't care where he wants to stand before/during/after a home game. I do want to say, the CB slander on here mystifies me. There seems to be two camps.

The first one...and the most knuckleheaded one, is that he is not a good coach. This is just patently false. He checks so many good coach "check-boxes". My guess is that since he was obviously not the second coming of Knute Rockne (or better yet, Paul Roach), the forum-dwellers hated the fact they he merely moderately elevated a program that had become used to completely sucking. It seems like is grave sin is that he did not do the typical Wyoming coach thing where some meager early success implodes into a complete $h!t-show....thus depriving his detractors of being able to kick dirt on his corpse. Great coach?...no....Good?...freaking yes. I'll be among the first to pull my hair out at how rough our offenses were for pretty much his entire tenure...but Wyoming was a well-coached team the entire time.

The second camp seems to be the tinfoil hat club. This group hates what I can only describe as Craig Bohl the shadow athletic director. For this group, Bohl (despite no concrete evidence) has obviously orchestrated the major decisions in the athletic department starting from the season before he retired......If only Bohl would have done or not done something we don't know for sure he actually did or did not do, we would be leading the way along with Boise State in the new P12. Even if everything this group thinks happened actually went down (spoiler alert...it didn't), it completely removes agency from Burman. I thought we hated Burman? Maybe there is some latent desire to shield Burman from blame for the Sawvel hiring? Truly don't understand this one.

Bohl had passion when he started at UW. He rode DC's WR recruits then failed to adjust to the transfer portal and NIL, now that is a collective issue at Wyoming as well. COVID saved him a 2-10 year and the mass exodus. He was a .500 coach at Wyoming and should have been WAY BETTER; his win percentage against winning teams was bad and I mean really bad.

Joe Glenn would have had a better record than Bohl. Bohl had a watered down MW compared to Glenn or even DC. This whole tenure feels like a Dimel to Koening transfer where Bohl did not recruit well at the end and we saw that year 1 with Sawvel.

Bohl walking around on the field, especially at away games, makes him in the spotlight. I wouldn't have an issue with it so much if his coordinator was not promoted to take his role. I think his son has done a good job as DC and does adjust his scheme.

Riding DC's WR recruits to success is certainly a take...Particularly since they did nothing for 2 years. Maybe that early success had more to do with a certain other player?

I don't ever know what to do with the "would-a, could-a, should-a argument". Was the talent better than the record? What would the full season in 2020 look like without a pandemic? Would Joe Glenn have run rings around the late 20-teens MWC? Interesting topics but they are just a part of the picture. I'll continue to rate him more heavily on the results. If anybody wants to claim he's great...I'll spit my coffee out laughing. But his program was functional and consistent in the way that good coaches are able to achieve. No special-ness, but it represented a version of what Wyoming needed at the time. The failures we are seeing now are the result of the structures around CB .... not because of anything He did while he was roaming the sidelines. Burman and the powers that be completely stepped on thier collective D!©|<'s when he retired.

I would encourage you to go look at stats with DC WR recruits under Bohl and then see the complete fall off after they graduated. The two years prior to Josh starting. Neyor is the only WR he recruited with solid numbers, now I also believe CJ Johnson would have had similar numbers before his knee injury.

Bohl did land a solid transfer in Asante but refused to used him. His catch to TD ratio was insane at 3:1.

I saw Bohl excited to be a coach when he first got to Wyoming then COVID happened, the mass transfers happened (no relation with coach), and then he got it back on track-ish for a year and retired. I get it he didn't want to deal with NIL and transfers and he landed a solid role helping coaches.

I like having fans around that loved Bohl and I do try a remember what he brought to the program but he tried to stay a course too long in my opinion and could never develop a QB or WR, unless the QB was a transfer. Colby K had better stats than any QB at UW (outside of JA).

I will say if Coffman had stayed healthy in 2015 they could have made a Bowl.

I don't know about "loving" Bohl...I just had a lot of respect for how he conducted himself. He had his shortcomings but he was ultimately a respectable Wyoming football coach. I know he wasn't everybody's cup of tea...that will always be the case for most every coach I suppose.

I feel like Wyoming has been a coordinator away since Tiller left. I guess in Dimel's tenure a Tiller recruit away. Koening Era could have gone way differently if he had just called the D.
 
This is probably not true but I recall hearing that Joe Tiller was helping recruit for UW when he left Purdue and came back to Buffalo. I think he really liked Wyoming and UW.

I think Bohl liked UW and cares about the program. Unlike Sawvel and Burman, I think he realized that his time in the sun was over. When I see him on the sideline, I can only assume that he cares about UW and that doesn't bother me at all. Like him or not, I remember a lot of good games under him. Some stinkers but on any given Saturday, you knew UW would be competitive.
 
I DGAF about Craig Bohl or where he watches the games. I didn’t like his philosophy when he coached here. Revisionist history isn’t enough for me to polish that turd. If .500 football is what you like, then more power to you.

Bohl ran a disciplined respected program. Wyoming always had a ton of fight under Bohl, the team typically came well prepared and we didn’t tend to take stupid penalties. We are far from that now. Christensen’s teams had more discipline than what we have now.

Sure, Bohl’s overly conservative style might have cost us a few games…but it also probably won us a few games. Agree with you that folks will always find ways to criticize a coach no matter how good of job they do or no matter what type of program they establish.

I guess we will just disagree here.

In his one season as starting QB, Kirkegaard completed 57 percent of his passes for 12 TDs and 9 INTs. He had a 125.6 QB rating. He threw for 2,660 yards as Wyoming was forced to throw the ball being down in most of the games he started. He also had -110 yards rushing (yes negative) with no rushing TDs. He did have Tanner Gentry and Jake Maulhardt to throw the ball to.

As a senior, Andrew Peasley completed 62.4% of his passes for 1,991 yards, 20 TDs and only 5 INTs. Peasley added 419 yards on the ground with 7 rushing TDs. He had a QB rating of 146.3.
