I am frustrated with the way we lost and the game should have been much closer than it was because of the muffed punt and the dropped TD pass but with that said.....
Wyoming will not play a team the rest of the year with a nearly as good offensive line and a one two punch at running back like that. Wyoming's defense did great in my opinion. So they should be able to pressure and shut down most of the opponents we play the rest of the year.
Also Wyoming will not play anyone the rest of the year that will have nearly as good of a front 7 as Iowa on defense so the offense will move the ball.
Iowa will have one of the best front 7's in college football this year.
Everyone needs to chill out.
Yeah it was frustrating but Wyoming has a great shot to win the rest of their games.
I disagree if we see play calling like today. Too predictable. Keep in mind, we had the same issues last year. Poor poor performance from the coaching staff and OC, IMO.seattlecowboy said:Some of you guys sound ridiculous.

I agree they had a decent d-line, makes the argument even more relevant- really doesn't make sense to send Josh running up the middle, versus using his arm . Hell, has Vigen heard of a screen. I'd take my chances with a long ball versus Josh up the gut.seattlecowboy said:Poke-proud said:I disagree if we see play calling like today. Too predictable. You can disagree all you want. You could call the same game against almost every other team we play the rest of the year and most of those plays would work because no one the rest of the year will have anything close to that front 7. I do think the play calling can be better but we don't have the skill position players right now to do anything against a front 7 like that.
Not having Price and Fort today hurt the passing game.
well we handled them no problem so I'm not worried at all.Asmodeanreborn said:Should also point out that Iowa's O-line wasn't all that amazing today because they were missing two of their starters. We'll definitely see O-lines on that level again, even if maybe their fully healthy line would be better than anything else we see.

From what I saw, they were only missing one. Starting C was out, so they moved LG to C, LT to LG, and brought in the backup LT. I was at the game, so didn't catch any announcer explanation, but that was the lineup I saw.
I was pretty impressed with your defense, to be honest. I thought we'd go well over 200 with some wrinkles to get Wadley to the edge. It didn't really happen.
You guys also had a pretty good turnout in the stands. Good luck the rest of the way.

Oh, that part was just quoted to me by a couple of Iowa fans on Reddit - I also only knew about the C. That makes me happier about the D overall. You can't expect them to shut everything down, and they had plenty of takeaways. Really hope the D-line can stay healthy!
Your defensive game plan was pretty spot on, though. Give up things underneath and don't let Allen use his strength to beat you deep... not that I'm sure anybody would've held on to deep balls given the dropped TD on a perfect throw the one chance we got, but still!

Wyoklaelk said:This front 7 nonsense....we were able to run some outside the A gaps, but those runs didnt work all game and they kept getting called. The read option was thrown in just enough to make us look cute and that didnt work either. The problem was that these plays were called on 3rd down way too often and never worked . When we started the 2nd half running outside the a gaps and play action passing, we had success, albeit not sustained in any drive. Screw the amazing front 7 talk, they didnt blow us up and we held their run game in check enough to compete. The failure was the jr high play calling. Barely any throws downfield against their weak secondary, too many out routes and short curls, too many runs in a gaps and too much read option....that was garbage play calling. Nothing remotely attacked them. There was no identification of some offensive game plan to exploit anything. Iowa played solid and straight up, they did well, but we made it way too easy on them.

So explain to me then how their secondary was weak? Where was there evidence of this? Or are you just spewing non sense because you heard they were starting some new guys back there? I didn't see any evidence of a weak secondary.
I saw Wyoming receivers that couldn't get open and the couple of times they did they dropped the ball. So again how was their secondary weak?
