Just got home from the game - perhaps their best all-around performance of the season. They played with much more fluidity and creativity on the offensive end, they uncharacteristically attacked the rim with the ball, and for one of the few times this season they were not one-dimensional but multi-dimensional. They shot the ball well at a 55% clip and had 4 guys in double figures. They also limited TO's tonight much more so than in past games...Adams without a single TO tonight. Defensively I thought they were very solid as well...really a very tight game by the Pokes.
Now onward. You want me to believe a little bit? Then go into the Pit on Saturday and win that game without excuse. Rise to the occasion, come out hungry like a wolf and convincingly beat a team that has fallen apart of late.Show us that you want this season to amount to more than it has been. Don't talk it - do it.
Was tonight an aberration - or was this the start of some Pokes magic? We shall see...we shall see.

this was one of the most fun games I went to all year, CSU and UNM were fun too, but there was never any doubt from the beginning. Larry was a beast and that's good to see him come back to form, I loved the energy Jack provided and it flowed well, just wish he coulda scored. Riley got it going later and DC was involved throughout, overall this was a fun game watching that "caveman" Collette cry about everything, I thought for a moment we were playing BYU.
Very satisfied with the overall effort, still debating if I'm gonna make the trek to ABQ saturday.

It chaps my ass how good USU stands to be next year. Tons of talent coming back. What a world we live in where USU and BSU look poised to take over the MWC while UNM and UNLV are struggling. GO figure...LKGates said:Utah State fan here.

UNM and UNLV will be back next year. They were both very young this year and both have impact transfers sitting out.
It shouldn't really be a surprise that USU is successful. One of the most consistently successful programs in the Western U.S. over the last 15 years with great fan support. It was actually surprising how much they struggled the last couple of years.
BSU is a different story. Their fans have never cared and they have never won a NCAA tourney game. Leon Rice has done a fantastic job.

Of all the games I went to this year, that one was hands down the best. Larry and Josh were on FIRE from the get go, the rest of the team played their roles perfectly, and Coach Shyatt got his 100th win at Wyoming on senior night. We couldn't have written a better home finale for this group. A few thoughts:
That 18 foot jump shot will do a lot of good things for Nance at the next level.
I was extremely happy to see Josh Adams get to play his game instead of being reigned in. He's the most fun player in the country to watch when he's in his groove. It drives me nuts that he likes to shoot threes when he's falling over, but as long as he hits a few I guess we can live with it.
Herndon played the best game of his young career, in my opinion. Cooke was having some early problems with Collette so Herndon was subbed in early. He did a solid job of shutting down the Aggies post players. He's not an elite defender by any means yet, but I think we'll see him become a force over the next few years. He definitely still needs to get bigger. If he can get some weight on he'll be able to position himself better for rebounds and push some people around in the paint.
Derek Cooke was the happiest guy in the building last night. He played a hell of a game offensively. His family being there seemed to hype him up quite a bit. I hope he can keep the energy up for the tournament. Oh, and that three!!!
If this team plays with that kind of flow and determination we'll be making some noise in the next few weeks. I hope they can!

Don't sleep on the Pokes. Good looking incoming class, Josh Adams, Herndon, Mcm, and the freshman are better than given credit for. Shyatt just doesn't play freshman a bunch of minutes unless forced to.

Let's hope the Aggies can shake this one off and kick some sheep rear on Saturday. I'd love nothing better than to see Wyoming somehow squeak one out on the road at UNM and push CS-ewe to the conference tourney 5th-seed with that gaudy overall record.
