Anyone wanting to continue to check out on these guys?
Our have they proven you might need to wait till the end of the year?

You get the Pokes in the tournament, I get the field. $1,000. Deal?
Would you take anyone over the field? Honest question.

I'm a family man with youngins running around, I'm broke. I've got nothing to bet. But if I could...
If you could, who? I'm a broke ass college kid, but if I could I'd put money on the field 99% of the time. Hell, I'd take the field over Kentucky

Dude, it was a stupid bet to even have been said. Hence, why I left the Ellipsis to allow you to draw your own conclusion.
I'm not taking it as a serious bet. But to me anyways you made it sound like you would take someone over the field. I'm curious as to who you'd take. Boise? SDSU?

All I'm saying is that this team (which everyone was giving up on) has one of the best chances to run through the conf Tourney. One of the best since the 80's. They've got the potential, and with where everyone else is rounding out the league, and with who can knock off who in different seeds, this team can easily make a run.
Am I going to wager on it? No. But:

I... I Believe... I believe that... I believe that we... I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!!!

But you know, that's just me. We still got a tough road game ahead. But I think we pull it out.

I hate that chant. Period. Never liked it. Never will. I pray to God that we never adopt that abomination of "chant" here.

After working all day I watched the game last night after work and I can only say one thing about that game that hasn't been said.

The Bank is open late in the Dome, laughed my ass off at DC shooting the 3.

The whole arena went wild and I thought the team was going to get a "T" for jumping up off the bench and celebrating out on the floor.

I love in the post game press conference he said I'm the better shooter I'm @ 100% going to miss watching these guys really hope there is another DC in the next recruiting class. As much as I wish he would have shot better free throws he was the ultimate role player that knew his role and didn't try to do to much and it worked.

I actually completely disagree with you.

DC has his positives. He brings high energy, and is a good finisher at the rim. But take him further than 4 feet away from the bucket? He is not good. He struggles with lay-ups at times, has missed some point-blank shots. And when things aren't going his way, he has shown to be a very sulky player. The sulking was mostly last season, not much this year. He has earned his starting spot and has contributed A LOT. He has also tried to do too much like you he doesn't.
Too many times in games that we are down by 5 to 10 with a handful of minutes left, DC has tried to take a defender from the top of the key to the hoop, and lost the ball or put up a horrendous shot.
As for his personality when things are going good? He's great. When things aren't going his way? Look at the countless tweets complaining.
DC is who he is. And personally, although it will suck not having his big blocks, and flying dunks, and funny post-game 1-liners, there are several parts of his game, and attitude that leave something to be desired.
He has been a good Cowboy though.

And I will give him ALL the credit in the world for working his ass off though. He brought that to the table as well.
Let's not forget him and Sellers both played 1 year of Juco ball, before coming here as sophomores, the only difference being that Sellers actually played basketball in high school and DC didn't. Cooke took the opportunity and fuckin' ran with it. Sellers didn't do shit but waste a scholarship and bench space. DC earned his role as a sophomore, then the last 2 years as a starter. And not just any starter. He does fit his role very well for the Pokes. He needed Nance to be there for him to be successful, but simply having Nance there doesn't mean he WILL be successful. He put the work in to be an above average player in the MWC this year.

Kind of mixed criticism and praise all in one post. But, that's who he is in my opinion.
I hope our next big guy has all the positives of DC and none of the negatives. But isn't that what we as fans always want when talking about future teams? We hope the good parts are automatically transferred to the next guy, and he can magically improve the other parts?

long rant aside I think what I said you missed, All I'm saying is every team needs role players and not just superstars and DC knew his role and I really hope in the next group of recruits we end up with someone who knows and accepts their role even if it's just being the paint guy.

But yes we would all love someone who would shoot 100% and not miss the layups etc.

If your point was simply hoping we find someone to be a role player, then I missed it. But finding role players isn't all that hard. Grabau. McManamen. Herndon. Hankerson. Etc. And I wasn't really trying to rant, just trying to back up what I was saying.

I agree. I hope we don't have any players wanting to be THE star like Vernon or Sh. Smith. I hope they find their respected place on the team and build from there. Don't be something you are not!

What's wrong with wanting to be THE STAR? Adams has that mentality. We need that type of aggression out of players. The can want to be the star, but the have to put in the work to be the star. Like Nance and Adams. Basketball is a game of stars. You can not win having a cast of role players.

Strive to be the star. But putting in the work is what gets you there. Being a self entitled douche-bag, and breaking and entering or stealing laptops or whatever Shakir did, is what we DON'T need.

I want Herndon wanting to be a star, and I hope he puts the work in for it.

That is the exact issue we are taking about, It's a lot harder to find people that accept roles and do not want to be the star much much harder.

Working your way to it is one thing. Nance and Adams are those kind of guys. Coming in and expecting is another.

I don't think that is an issue with Shyatt. People will know their roles, or they will be gone.
It might cause the occasional transfer after freshman year, but after that? We got guys who know their roles. No one is coming into a Larry Shyatt coached basketball team and acting entitled for longer than 1 day.

Hence why we have had transfers almost every year. Exception, Haldorson.
And that is what we have been saying we hope that this incoming group does not have one of those guys. The point I made of finding their role on the team and growing from there. Adams was not a star his fresh year and neither was Nance they worked their butts off and grew into those roles. I don't want some fresh coming in feeling entitled to be a starter and a significant player, unless, they truly work themselves into that role. And if they do it as a fresh, then they are bad ass! But if not. Don't be crying about lack of playing time and wanting to transfer by years end.

Okay I gotcha.

I guess I was looking at it from a view of "There will be no selfish players on a Shyatt team or they will be gone" and you were saying "Right, so we hope this recruiting class doesn't have one of those players".
