Hello Cowboy fans from a visitor!

My family and I are coming out for the the Nebraska Wyoming game and we would like to get a little information for our visit. First let me say that I am not thinking that this game is going to be a walk in the park for our boys. I am a little nervous that his could end up being one of those sleeper games and we could be going home with a L just as easily as a W. That being said we are very excited to visit your fine state and see what your university has to offer. We don't go to a lot of road games so this is a treat for us. Now on to the questions.

We are staying in Fort Collins and want to come up early to tailgate before the game. Does anyone have any suggestions on a parking that would good for tailgating? Also, what are the laws on adult beverages around the stadium? What should we make sure we see if we want to walk around and enjoy the campus? Anything else that you can recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Again, we are really looking forward to coming and visiting your campus and we hope that many of you will make the trip to Lincoln in 2013. Thanks for your help!

Unless our team crushes BG tomorrow I think you guys won't have much trouble with us.

Here is the UW athletics parking map.

Unless you somehow have a pass to park in a lot, which I doubt, then I'd advise you to park on one of the streets a block or two south of Grand Ave near Washington Park and walk on over to tailgate park and the parking lots for tailgating. Adult beverages are allowed in all parking lots and in the tailgating area. Tailgate park also has some activities for kids too.

Enjoy.

As well as televised games, live music, and UW apparrel.

Also, Tailgate Park is free to anyone that is not a BYU fan. :P But it really is free entrance. They have macro and micro brews for sale, as well as a variety of food stuffs too. But our trademark food is the funnel cake which you can buy once the gates to the stadium open.

there is also a lot pretty much where the compass is on this map that is on someone's private property, its 20 dollars to park here but it's easy in-easy out with attendants showing you where to put your car. people are always tailgating there but i'm not sure if they are drinking as we always head over to tail gate park to do that. speaking of tailgate park it's one of the few on-campus locations with an open container policy (beer only) along with a few of the parking lots., and the only on-campus location (as far as i know) with beer sales. they always have a band playing, bouncey houses, lots of food around, a big screen playing college football, and a few other exciting things such as the cheerleaders and cowboy joe. a little bit before the game the Western Thunder marching band comes through the park and plays a few songs including ragtime cowboy joe. in my opinion if you want the wyoming gameday experience TGP is where to get it.

and since i forgot to type it in earlier....tail gate park is located directly southwest of the stadium

ps. please be careful on hwy 287...its a beautiful drive but it can get away from you

i never said ive tried to search on out either...

Also might mention, the UW campus starts at the stadium and goes West from there. There is also some public parking NE of the stadium (just West of 30th St.) close to the ball and soccer fields. If you are into mountain scenery, try the Snowy Range - 35 miles West of Laramie on highway 130 (if the weather is good, because the top is over 10,000 feet).

Thanks for all the information everyone and congratulations on your win yesterday. We benefited from some questionable calls in our win, but we have had plenty of bad calls go against us in the past. I think we are going to try and find a spot that we can set up our easy up tent and do some grilling out. Are there very many places like that around the stadium? Is WYcowboy's suggestion of NE of the stadium our best bet? Hope the weather is good for Saturday night, the long range forecast looks good so far.

One other thing, It makes me sad that so many on this board seem to have a lot of hatred towards Nebraska. Does it go all the way back to Devaney leaving the Cowboys for Nebraska? I would hope not. We are very grateful to have gotten Devaney from the Cowboys, had we not gotten him way back when who know’s where we would be. We don’t refer to him as the Bobfather for nothing. So for that we, we are very thankful. We take great pride in our football team. It is the one thing in our state that truly units all those that live here. We also take great pride in how we treat visiting teams and their fans. Even in a lose we treat the winning team and their fans with respect (and we have had to do that a lot when Callahan was our coach). We have also been spoiled and become accustomed to having very good teams and winning championships. That makes it so we have very high expectations of our team and for us 9-3 is not good enough. That may make us seem arrogant, but if you are willing to settle for mediocrity then that is what you will be.

I was born and raised in Omaha, NE and have lived there my entire life (46 years now). I was too young to remember our championships under Denvaney, but I did get to enjoy our championships in the 90's. It is a feeling that I sincerely hope that you as Cowboy fans will someday get to enjoy. This is me and my wife's first non-conference road game and we are very excited about our trip. I have nothing but good feelings about the people of Wyoming and I am sure we will be treated very well when we come to visit. Please do not take our enthusiasm and pride in our team as arrogance. We love the game of college football and we enjoy getting to travel and make new friends in other states. Now that I think of it, if you lived in Nebraska you would want to get away from the cornfields and see mountains every now and then as well :D . I also hope that a lot of you make the trip into Lincoln in a few years so that we can repay the hospitality that our fans will experience. I think you will enjoy the game day experience in Lincoln. The drive to get there on there, on the other hand, not so much, unless you like mile after mile of corn.

Enough of the rant, or whatever you want to call it, and again, thank you all for the advice and we are looking forward to experiencing Cowboy football Saturday next week.

I can't say we hate Nebraska in general but for this week I have to say yes we hate Nebraska. :D

Mack Brown the head coach of Texas and many of the Texas fans said after they came here two years ago that as a visiting team they have never been treated better than they were by the people here in Laramie.

Do I honestly think we stand a chance next week, well you know they saying about a snowball and a real place hot south of Heaven... so my answer is NO. I will be rooting for my Pokes as I always do and if we are a dogs butt and the sun does shine on us well I can say you will not have any happier fans in the country.

I hope you enjoy your stay here in Laramie and if we do win (say that laughing) I hope you don't take our excitement as arrogance, as we are still looking for that signature win under Dave Christensen and it would be great to get it against Nebraska!!!

Not so much hate as just a long history living next door to the bid red machine. I am grateful (and a little astounded) that this is the first time Nebraska has EVER played in Laramie.

I love big games like this where we can show our neighbors a little Wyoming hospitality. Check out the maps and get in one of those lots NW of the stadium EARLY. Take the time to go over at leat 90 minutes before the game and go to tailgate park. Lots on fun people, beer and just small-town college atmosphee.

Howdy! Looking forward to the game next week as well.

As for looking for a place to set up tailgate/ pre-game camp, it always surprises me how few people make use of Washington Park which is only a 3-4 block walk from the stadium. Lots of open space and picnic tables, although I'm a little unsure of the current status of OC's there. That being said, anyone being well behaved and discreet is unlikely to garner the attention of Laramie's finest on game day.

Enjoy your stay in the Laramie- Ft. Collins area. As someone else referred, you might want to consider leaving FC early in the morning, driving over Cameron Pass through Walden up to Saratoga, then over Snowy Range Pass down through Centennial into Laramie for an incredibly beautiful long-way scenic drive to Laramie. Allow about four hours if you choose to do so. Whatever you choose to do, safe travels.

Any hatred probably comes from a handful of posters that hate anybody that looks to be better than the Pokes. (or maybe they got caught in one of Nebraska's speed traps)

I'm indifferent. Nothing for or against them. Mainly because several family members are Husker fans and live in Sidney, NE.

I can fully appreciate that. It's my plan on Saturday morning. Think I'll stop and crack my first beer on the Summit.

And Husker fans, I think you may see around 5000 or so in red, but an otherwise sea of Brown and Gold singing Cowboy Joe and the Beer song!

I don't know, you may be surprised at what is coming your way. We put 80'000+ in memorial stadium for a home game at $65 face value a ticket plus a minimum $500 a year donation. We have no problem paying well over $150 a seat for away games. Many of your cowboy brethren may see the $'s and opt to watch the game on the couch at home. Good seats could make enough to pay for the whole season and then some. It's hard to pass up.

I can't wait to hear the Beer song, sounds like one I could appreciate :D

Not really. Cowboy Joe Club guys bought up a lot of the available tickets. Than, season ticket holders from previous years got ours, students get in free should they have card and ticket, and no General Admission tickets have been sold. And so far, there are only a couple hundred tickets for the game being sold online. I do expect there to be a good number of Husker fans, but no sea of red. I think many will be standing out in the parking lot wondering what the hell they'll do for the next 3 hours.

And the Beer song is performed on request by the student section to the Western Thunder Marching band, and is short, sweet, and to the point.

Gonna catch hell for this again but I've said it before so oh well. I hate the beer song and how dumb it makes us sound. I don't care if it's "tradition" (though I really don't remember hearing it until the last few years...) it is a horrible song and it makes me sick
