His career in Las Vegas is done. After this year's playoffs, the expansion Las Vegas Outlaws of the Arena Football League are folding. So is New Orleans. The AFL will be left with 10 teams.

That's Vegas for you. 90% transplants - no loyalty. Hospitality work hours.

Hope JJ lands on his feet - I will never forget his efforts against UCLA in the LV Bowl (caught a crucial - and underthrown - TD pass from Bouknight) to get UW back in the game.

The Arena Football League (which I've followed since 1987) is becoming more and more like the old Continental Basketball Association, same league that had the Wyoming Wildcatters if anyone remembers.

Honestly think the AFL days are numbered. No stability whatsoever. It needs legit owners, not rock stars like Jon Bon Jovi, Vince Neil, or KISS.

Who's going to invest in a product that continually loses money and is really expensive to operate?

The fact is it's a niche type sport. Only playing on a 50 yard field with a lot of guys playing both ways, offense and defense. Only the QB and kicker are allowed to be specialized for obvious reasons.

In hindsight, I'm amazed it lasted this long. The AFL did take 2009 season off to reorganize things but still...

This is not a good sign for indoor football. There was once big money in Arena football. The AFL at one point was a feeder league to the NFL, but that is no longer. I played Arena 2 back in the early 2000's when indoor football was at it's peak. I remember trying out for Arena teams against former NFL kickers!

What eventually happened was a business model that could not sustain success without big sponsors, famous owners, and television contracts. Once that money dried up it was the beginning of the end. There was some serious talent in the AFL because it paid well.

I believe indoor football still has a place but no longer on a national scale. It's no longer a path to the NFL, The Canadian Football league has claimed that. Regional leagues are the answer with a national scale playoff, much like minor league (outdoor) football does. If Wyoming ever get's an indoor team again, This is old man may dust of the cleats and try out
