So be it but this seaason is far from over. It kinda cracks me up how this board is so manic/depressive through a season. I laughed after the Northern Colorado game when people were questioning our team because the O only scored 21 pts. Then came the Air Force game and then people were predicting a 10 and 11 win season and the same guys were all of the sudden in love with DC. Guys that wanted to slit his throat last year and then threw away there knife have all the sudden found it again and are ready to cut ties with this year. Jesus, how this board needs some Zanax. Laughable.
Sat was painful, no doubts about that, but this group must learn how to win consistently. We have three new guys upfront, 1 soph, and 1 Sr. Our O is not a finished product by any means and they will continue to refine themselves as the year progresses. TSU scared me all the way back to the Spring because they are, quite simply, TX kids, pretty much all of them and I knew theyd be better than they were in 2011. These are the kids that have plenty of talent, that for some reason cant get into the big 4 (UT, AM, TT, TCU). You can throw Hou and UTEP in there as well but these kids have loads of talent so dont kid yourselves. This will be one of the best Defenses that we face all year and is better then probably 85% of the D's in the MWC. They kicked the shit out of us upfront and we have to get that fixed. Say what you want about Orakpo but that kid has a) cleaned up his act from his days at CSU and b) will get a shot at the NFL. He is a legitamate and versatile LB who will be one of the better LB's we face this season.
Without a running game we, again, are reduced to a shell of ourselves. Brett wasnt great but dammit he shouldnt have to be great for us to be able to win. I realize the O goes through him, as it should, but by no means is he a one man show. Just as he isnt in the wins we've had. He and we need all 10 other guys to do the job consistently if we are going to be successful and rarely, did we have all 11 doing it together on each play. Give TSU credit, I believe they will be successful and go to a bowl this season if they can get better on O. Their D is a top 25 D and you can mark that down now. One thing is for sure though our WR's had by far, their worst game of the season. Dom's had a great season, but his loss shouldn't all of the sudden make us impotent. People need to step up and know what they are doing and that didnt happen Sat. Nico was hurt and that didnt help as he's a pretty good WR. Robert Herron should have had 3 TDs on Sat but he flat-out dropped a TD down the sideline and couldnt get his foot in on the other TD. He needs to get better. Everyone needs to get better and I believe they will.
D was sloppy but they can reign that in. Need to wrap up and be more physical and we'll get better. NM starts the real season and we typically play well against NM. The next week is Boot week, and, well, we all know how that goes. If you've given up on this team, than get your ass out of here and don't come back. If not, take the punch that was squarely delivered in the mouth, spit out the blood, recoil, and get your hands ready to unload on the next opponent and be prepared to keep punching the rest of the year.
