I'm in hold on the secondary. I must have watched a different game but as many solid plays I saw a lot of plays where it was fortunate that Akron couldn't throw or catch.
I didn't see every play but Anderson looked really inaccurate when he was forced to roll left. This worries me because the left side of the line looks like 1 on 1 can contain that side for the opposing d. That means bring pressure on the o's right and force things left is probably the scouting report.
D, including secondary, did have a good statistical game, pitched a shutout, but we'll know more after cu and Utah. Good first out though.
Honestly, Bohl ball probably wins this 17 or 24 to 0. The run game looked really good at times. In Bohl's last year, we averaged about 7.2 yards/attempt and threw about 24 passes/game. 7.2 yards per attempt on 36 attempts is about 259 yards (which is close to Anderson this game). What's interesting is that Bohl averaged 36 rushes for 4.4vy/a (39 rushes for 4.3 y/a this game). Against Akron, there was 75 possessions vs 59 for Bohl's average in the last year. The time of possession was 33 for this game which is more or in line with Bohl's.
This year's squad is running a faster tempo, was able to sustain drives to get the TOP up there but just couldn't convert when it counted. If the critical conversions and passing percentage increase, this O could be pretty decent. The flip side is that if the tempo stays, passing completion stays, and we run into a better D which shortens drives, it might be a long day.
