Pokes @ Zips Game Thread

I’m not sure what to make of what I just watched.

Kaden looked awfully inaccurate. I was very disappointed by his performance. He has to be a lot better if we are going to win more games than we did last year.

Outside of Durr, our receiving corp underwhelmed again. Dropped balls, poor body positioning, lack of awareness from that group as a whole.

Sam Scott needs to see the bulk of carries at RB. Was not impressed by the other guys.

Defense looked great, but that Akron offense was pretty anemic. Their QB was not good at all. We were also very lucky their best player went down with an injury.
Holman was good too. Bentley needed to shield the defender better on that deep pass which was broken up. Yeah, kaden seemed rushed a lot when he didn’t need to

Ugly W but a win is a win. There were some positives (Durr, Scott, defense). Oline and quarterback play could be a lot better. Some questionable coaching decisions. Let’s see what they do next week.

Not exactly an inspiring win. I don’t know what to make of it.

Kaden was 19/36 for 260 yards. Area for improvement? Sure. But there's been plenty of years where we would have had a parade for that kind of passing performance.

The Pokes are coming off a 3-9 season and just went on the road and beat another bad team. I'm not saying we're winning the conference - but we're acting like we eeked out a win over an FCS team at home.

Wyoming was unquestionably the best team on the field tonight, even if the score doesn't show it.

I need to re watch, (watched 4th Q …. Coaching football, Thursday at 5:00 might be the worst time for a game in my lifetime) but we looked a lot better. Dominated statistically. Kaden did look not very good though. Either underthrew or overthrew everything. Didn’t lead Sargent? on what should have been a huge gain. Kaden needs to be better and I think he will!

That’s a completion percentage just barely over 50%. Close to 100 of those yards came off of two plays - the deep ball that was underthrown and gets broken up by a better DB and the Durr TD which was all YAC by Durr.

Kaden also missed the read on the 4th down inside their 10 yard line when Scott got stoned and we turned the ball over. If he pulls that ball, he walks into the end zone untouched. I know he isn’t a running QB, but he has to pull the ball there.

Nobody is going to convince me Kaden had a good game tonight. He had a mediocre game at best.

Given the past few years, I will take mediocre qb play.

I was my usual surly self most of the game being irritated that this program continues to struggle in the point scoring category. When we got the late TD then I was comfortable feeling the win was possible.

It was a dominant performance statistically but we made sure to feed Akron multiple opportunities.

There was a good representation of Wyoming fans present. The Akron fans are generally unemotional and understandably so with the continued losing.

Parked for free across the street from the stadium and all east side tickets were $19 general admission so we sat on the upper deck 50 yard line. Not a bad little stadium.

There is some potential on this team and a good test for this staff will be to enhance the ability to score. If this team is going to be competitive for bowl eligibility they better be dominant next week in the home opener not just in total offense but on the scoreboard as well.

I was happy to attend the game in person and walk out of the stadium with the W.

Not inspiring but beats the alternative. I remember ASU all too vividly. We have work to do. Pre-snap penalties, 3rd and 4th down efficiency, LG play…but we get to do it as a 1-0 team.
