Sorry guys but even if Wyoming won the rest of the regular season games and won the first two games of the conference tournament and then lost in the championship game they would not get an at large bid.
All that would do is put them into the conversation but they would still get left out most likely. The NCAA tournament selection committee looks heavily at your out of conference schedule and how many you won against top 50 and top 100 competition as well as how many road and neutral site games you won. We have zero wins out of conference against top 50 or top 100 teams. We have no road or neutral site wins against any top 50 teams or top 100 teams.
They also look at bad losses and we have a few of those. Losses to Utah St and Air Force do not look good at all granted the loss to AFA was without Nance. Again no team with an OOC schedule rated 300+ has ever (let me stress this again) I said EVER made the NCAA tournament as an at large team.
Now we do have a couple top 100 wins against teams in conference but those don't count near as much as out of conference , especially when the MWC is rated #12 in the rpi as far as conferences go and the conference as a whole has an OOC schedule rating of 24 out of 33 total conferences. That is just terrible.
So everything we need to get an at large bid we do not have and everything we need to get left out we do have.
Now I would love to be proven wrong and Wyoming to make history and win the rest of their regular season games and make it to the MWC tournament championship and end up with an at large bid that someone with as bad as schedule as we have has never been able to do before
but I would rather Wyoming just go win the damn MWC tournament and not leave any question about it.
