NM State Game

Good game pokes way to hold on and pull out a huge road win.

Adams had one big dunk in the 2nd half on a fast break that he had to throw down or their big guys would have blocked it.
 
There is something very maddening about this team! Haha if I had hair I would have pulled it all out that last 6 minutes! Huge win by the boys in gold but I wish we could hold a big lead like that. Naughton looked good tonight and hit two big free throws down the stretch
 
Nice win on the road for these guys! Wasn't really expecting it after the egg against Southern, but the pokes responded very well! Adams was his usual self, had 2 gigantic plays in the last couple minutes that sealed it for us. Mac and James both played well, as well as Naughton. Looking at the stats it's pretty crazy we pulled it out in spite of giving up 18 offensive rebounds! Still, battled til the end and came out on top! Another step for this young team, and on to the next one!!
 
Naughton played great. I want to see a lot more of him. JJ is so smooth, but apparently needs to work on free throws. Barns's hands are made of stone. Larry or DC would have had a field day with the awesome feeds Josh was giving. Herndon needs to give some more offense and rebound better and oh yeah make a damn ft.

This is what we get with a young team. Losing at home to a decent Southern team that we would usually still beat at home and then going on the road and beating a team that most thought we would lose to.

The more Naughton plays the better he is going to get. I think he can be pretty decent by the time mid January hits if he keeps getting some playing time. James is gaining more confidence each game also.
 
Glad they got the win.
God this team is up and down.
lose to mtsu, take cal to ot, lose to southern at home, beat nmsu on road.

This team can be good in mwc play if they figure out how to be consistent game to game.

Good win! On to the next!
 
HUGE to have Naughton coming on like this!!! We need a big man presence that can tussle around in the key with the BIG boys. He really has some fight down there to push guys off the block. Still rough around the edges for sure but he looks like the big of the future for us :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Adams is so clutch for us. He just has so many big plays throughout the game that help us out, including some critical ones that built momentum into that big lead that we almost lost. This dude is still and always the guiding light this season :bow: :bow: :bow:
This season is frustrating but I do like what I see whenever I tune in. We are just young and inconsistent but it'll come. Coach did a great job on recruiting this year. One of my biggest pet peeves is getting owned on the boards however.....that's just gonna keep happening and it'll keep sucking.
 
Also forgot to add..... I wish UW would take some notes on how to broadcast a game from the "AggieVision" that was on the ESPN3 broadcast. Very well done and put together, high quality throughout which is a rarity for me on my internet, and other than the smoker voice I thought was a very good presentation of the basketball game. Last 2 games at home that I've wanted to watch have been mysteriously nonexistent.

I hate getting owned on the boards, too. But when you have Josh Adams you always have a chance.

I'm gonna have an brain aneurysm during one of the SDSU games this year :brick: :grenade:
They are gonna run an in game tip drill on us, maybe they'll just hand their rebounds to their teammates in the air....its gonna be one of those classic get owned on the boards years. At least we've got Naughton trying to sheriff it a little. Barnes is gonna have to learn how to throw some of his weight around in there. Herndon seems reliable enough right now to at least give us a chance. This team keeps surprising so maybe we can just shoot our way around the paint domination.
 
I think we will get beat on rebounds most games but I feel like Shyatt will/is addressing the issue with Naughton getting more time. Barnes is getting a little better he just lacks proper rebounding instincts and that will get better with time. This team is trending up. The southern game was an outlier and I think we will be tough to beat when conference rolls around.
