Nattering nabobs of negativism

I think the Wyoming fan base comes by the negativity honestly. I didn't feel good after the fraudulent 4-0 start last year and I don't feel good right now.

I still like watching the pokes but I'm not seeing a good team right now. Heart? Sure... Talent? Not so much.... Overall program direction? Decidedly downward.

In terms of performance, I feel better about this team than last year. They are the third youngest team in D1. I want to see an extra year under the belts of a lot of these guys. Wyo could be the dumpster fire out in Hawaii.

As for program direction - it's down because they lost a ton of experienced players. The entire program recognized it, and they say they are working on it. For Bohl's credit - I did see him greet the player who transferred to UNC after the game.

Now - if they lose another boatload of players to the transfer portal - then let's talk about the direction of the program. It does no good to develop these kids just to have them leave for their junior and senior years.

I remember FCS games where I wasn't sure which team was FCS and which was FBS. This wasn't one of those days. Wyoming was the much better team and the final score was indicative of the play I saw on the field.

For as young as we are, I’m giving them two thumbs up. 2-1 is really the best case scenario.

That's fair... It's not like they are doing any worse than I expected this year....I guess you could say they are meeting expectations.

I stand by calling the overall direction of the program downward though.

Not to be too much of a "Negative Nancy", but we struggled against a middling Big Sky Conference team for the better part of 3 quarters.

Let's not get too far ahead of our oars with regards to how this team is going to be anything other than what we've seen in week 0.

Hopefully being young means we can learn and grow from game after game. Although I wasn't at the War for the 1st time in a long time, listening all i could hear was struggle, struggle on both sides of the ball. Where's our 4 quarters, 60 minutes of football, balls to the wall, Cowboy Tough Wyoming Cowboy Football team we all know can exist. It sure doesn't get any easier from here, but we'll take it as they come and (maybe) shock the Zoomies on Friday!!! Learn, grow, prosper!!!

Overall, I think it's going to be a rough year, but I'm glad to see we actually are finding moderate success at QB and WR. We're not as one-dimensional as we used to be.

Actually this year's squad is interesting. Combined with an absolutely terrible Mtn division and MWC overall, the record might be a little better than anticipated. Quality of opponent does matter. There should be several teams that even this young squad can hang with.

This week against AF will be a good indicator of how far off the pace we really are. Reality is that it's kind of tough to tell at this point.

Win is a win. Time to get ready for Air Force. This team is young and showing marginal improvement in some areas. They'll still manage to eke out 2-4 more games.

Actually, it's not that hard to tell. The offense is maybe the worst since pre Josh Allen. The only worse offense was the first 6 or 7 games with Van derWahl. Our best running back is now at Arizona St. The qb and receivers are borderline D1. We are +16.5 this friday at home against Air Force. Other than maybe Boise st., I don't recall us ever being that big of a home underdog. And honestly, I think Air Force is the play. The only way we stay in the game is to get at least +3 turnover margin. The only way to beat Air Force is get penetration up the middle to blow up that running game and frankly, I don't see it happening.

Relative to the MWC, other than a few teams, it's kind of tough to tell. AF, byu, and probably bsu are out of reach. After that, the rest of teams might be complete garbage. FSU and joser might have enough to be out of reach we'll see. I don't think all of those teams will be out of reach.

Not so much how good our bad this WYO squad is but how down the MWC is.

We'll see.

I think that's a fair assessment. I'm just a little discouraged by seeing another terrible Bohl offense.
That's a horrific UNC team that kept it close yesterday.

Keep drinking that Bohl Kool- Aid.
I am sticking to my preseason prediction of a 3-9 season.
The 5 game skid starts this Friday with a beat down by Air Force followed by a mauling from BYU.
These two games will produce numerous injuries to some WYO starters affecting our future performance.
Only remaining win will be Hawaii.
