As a former die-hard Huskers fan, this kind of shit is why I can't stand their fanbase anymore - from the other board:

$174 per ticket is nothing to Husker fans. We are used to paying that in Lincoln where they actually fill 86000 seats EVERY week. If anyone thinks the War won't be red, think again. Take a look at Notre Dame's stadium when we played there. 30,000 Huskers filled there. (and they actually have "loyal" fans there). When the Wyoming "fans" or students are offered a few hundred bucks for a ticket many will oblige. Also, when the ticket office says the huge majority of season tickets sold are from Colorado and Wyoming addresses, they are more than likely Husker fans. Me being four of those tickets sold, btw. My guess is that at least half of the seats will be red.

Yeah, yeah we get it - the college football world revolves around Lincoln. I've been to numerous Husker games in my lifetime and I've been to dozens of UW games - I would choose the War on a beautiful fall afternoon (or any day for that matter) than any day with the blue hairs in Lincoln. I've sat in their student section and it is pathetic compared to the War.

If the only thing Wyoming had to do in fall was to get the corn picked, then maybe the War would have the seats filled every week. But we have elk & deer hunting, skiing out our back door, snowmobiling, trout fishing in beautiful mountain streams and lakes, ect. We also don't have over a million people within an hour of the stadium.

We're not too much ahead of our season ticket pace for the Texas year, and 95-98% of those season ticket holders were UW fans; there was very little burnt orange outside of their allotted seating. There are going to be more Nubb fans than UT fans, that is for sure. However, there won't be a takeover of the War by the dolts from the east, I guarantee that.

The season tickets that were sold to Wyoming addresses are "more than likely Husker fans?" Really??? N definitely is for Knowledge.

Ha - ha, good post. I especially enjoyed the quote from the Husker fan. There will be brown & gold in my seats, I guarantee that.

I really don't get why most college football fans have to get so goddamn indignant like that. Its a game and its about the kids. Not how much of a douche you can be to other fans/teams

I though students use their ID cards to get in the game? Is someone going to pay me a 175 $ for my ID card?

I was just watching the 94' game. In the third Quarter when it was tied we threw in interception to a diving DB who "fumbled" after the catch. My ass! That was no where near a catch! Just watched the highlights and thought it might pertain to this thread! Nebraskans are definitely proud of their team (for some reason) Not too much to speak of the last few years except that Texas game two years ago.

Have a cousin who has always wanted to see the Huskers play, ands now he gets too. But I'm going to see if I can convert him to being a Poke fan.

Though when he told his sister that he gets to watch a Husker game for free, she did call him an asshole.

I am not sure who it will be, but the best QB on the field will be wearing brown & gold.

That and we have Biezuns......Superman wears Biezuns pajamas.

Watching the 06 Pokes play Boise St. They beat us by 7 due to INT for TD off of Greg Bollings hands (bad pass by Doss) and then they win the Fiesta Bowl that year, and thank to Aric Goodman's kicking losing us 2 games and the New Mexico bowl committee, we don't even go to a bowl game.

igNorance is bliss....the stadium will not be red. uNderestimate us all you want, like TX did. you remember them right, the team you ran away from to go play pussies like Ohio State.

Oh, also got my (renewed) season tickets sometime ago. Just hope I can make it to all the games this year.

Go POKES!

The Texas fanbase is far more rabid than the Husker fan base, and the Longhorn fans are far better travelers than Husker fans... that said, I would expect a crowd similar to the Texas game.. a lot of burn orange, but definitely not gobs of it.

No need to get into a p*ssing match over what school is better in terms of football. I am a graduate of both Wyoming and Nebraska and I will tell you the gameday experience between the schools insnt even close. Sure when the War is sold out it is great but what we do that once or twice a season? Nebraska has sold out every game since the late 60's and sure some husker fans may be a bit arrogant but when you are one of the top 5 programs in the history of college football I think you earned that.

Nebraska fans travel very well and with Wyoming being right next door there are sure to be a great number of Nebraska fans. How many? I'm not quite sure but it all boils down to how many Poke fans keep their tickets and not try to cash in for a big pay day.

First of all dipshit, nobody said anything about Wyoming being better than Nubb in football, and I doubt anyone would dare say a 3-9 Wyoming team is better than a top 25 Nubb team. I compared atmosphere, and I will stand by my statement. Secondly, you say not to start a pissing match yet your next sentence says this:

Don't worry, us lowly UW fans will drop to our knees at the sight of scarlet and red and bow to greatness of Nubb football. I hear all the time about how passionate Nubb fans are, yet they are some of the most bandwagon fans on the planet. What other sports do they support? Basketball? Nope. Baseball? When they're winning. Any other sports? Again, only win they are winning.

I think your Nebraska edumacation really screwed up your reading comprehension.

Well, to be quite honest, almost every fanbase in the country fits this description...including UW. Need I remind you how many fans showed up to the mens basketball games this last season? Every fanbase has their share of diehards, but the vast majority of fans are casual fans. They show up when the team is winning and when there is going to be an exciting atmosphere. In the end, I can't really blame them. If they aren't infatuated with UW sports like most of us are, then I can see how sitting in a mostly empty arena/stadium watching their team play some no name school wouldn't be any fun.

My personal opinion is that the stadium will be split about 50/50. The fact is that the UW fanbase is made up primarily of 1)Wyoming residents, and 2)UW graduates in the area. That group doesn't include a whole hell of a lot of people compared to the number of people who are Nebraska fans (diehards or bandwagoners) within the surrounding states. Us diehards will do everything we can to keep the tickets in the hands of UW fans, but a whole hell of a lot of casual fans will give their ticket up for a few hundred dollars. What's funny is...most of the Nebraska fans seem to think we are getting the short end of the stick. I'm not so sure about that.

So, you're calling season ticket holders and Cowboy Joe Club members casual fans? They/we are the people with the tickets. The casual fan won't have a chance to get a ticket unless they are in the know. I take it you didn't attend the Texas game a couple years ago.

1.) Don't forget about the students. Remember, for the Texas game, there were actually some student tickets left over. Many students aren't that interested in UW sports, and if they can go pick up a ticket for free and sell it for $200 when they wouldn't have gone to the game anyways, they would be stupid not to take advantage of that.

2.) Almost all of the Cowboy Joe Club members and many of the season ticket holders are more than just casual fans. However, I've met plenty of season ticket holders that I would consider casual fans. I can't count how many times I've talked to season ticket holders who couldn't make a game because "they needed to get groceries that weekend", "had prior obligations", etc. There are quite a few season ticket holders who have 4-5 tickets for their entire family. I've already talked to some who are looking to sell their tickets to the Nebraska game because they "don't want to deal with the crowd with their young children". And they aren't dumb...they know thats potentially and extra $800-1000 dollars in their pocket. That isn't chump change. Unfortunately, I think there are far more Nebraska fans out there that are willing to pony up $200 per ticket than there are remaining UW fans without a ticket.

It's my understanding that students get a physical ticket, however, a student still has to have their ID to get in the game. So you won't see a bunch of Nebraska fans in the student section except for those annoying students that came to school here from Nebraska and still wear that god awful red on campus. I'll be extremely surprised if there are any leftover student tickets this year.

No doubt there are going to be a few casual fans that sell to Nubb fans, but that is going to be exception, not the rule. Just like the moron that posted on the over board about a few Nebraska fans in Wyoming buying season tickets, that isn't going to be the norm.

I'm predicting around 9-10k wearing red, who'll be extremely disappointed at the end of the game when the Pokes shock the "skers" 21-17.

First off, not sure why this is such a hot topic. Who frickin' cares how much red is in the stands at the War? The more the merrier when the Pokes lay a smackdown on those pompous sons of b--ches. Not sayin we'll win the game but I think "all that red" will definitely know the Pokes came to play. Thank God the players could give 2 ishts.

I see plenty of UW students showing up for this one, because it's a history game. The Pokes will more than likely be 3-0 going into the game and I believe most students will be of the feeling that they do not want to be the person that isnt a part of the potential history of that game. Students would love to say "Remember the Nubb game in '11?" Nobody wants to be that person that says "No, I went grocery shopping..." Huh?

Here is a novel thought; I vote we talk more about Weber St, Texas St and Bowling Green, before we spend so much time on the guys from Nowledge.

I unfortunately grew in Vol country and I see much of the same ignorance from Husker fans since living out here. I honestly think husker and vols fans could be switched and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. That's just how ignorant the fanbases of these big time programs are.

Working in the Union reached a boiling point for me when I see other employees wearing a Nebraska or Texas shirt to work. It's unacceptable if we are going to change the culture around here. So I'm working on getting a rule in place for that  Maybe growing up around Vols fans taught me one thing, to at least be devoted to your school. I'm sure we will see too much red in the student section and it will be a sad sight to say the least. So the best thing we can do is whip some husker ass and get the red out of the stands ASAP.

If our new OC and our new QB can get it together in short order we have an excellent chance of entering this game undefeated, as does Nebraska if they don't screw up against Washington. Can you imagine a game at the War, a month into the season, featuring two undefeated teams? Having said that, there are many tickets for sale on StubHub. I can't blame people if they can basically have free season tickets simply by selling their Nebraska s3eats.

I think estimates that it will be 50/50 are way off. How many Texas fans were there? Maybe 7-8K? So Nebraska is going to double that? Nebraska may even have the more rabid fan base, at least in this region, but the math simply doesn't work for a 50/50 split. Nebraska is arguably more interesting for an average UW fan because of the close proximity.

If our stadium was BYU's size, I'd say the chances are much greater for a 50/50 split, but the fact that we will only have about 32K seats available simply caps the number of seats available to them IMO.
