MWC Hoops

FYI:

About the John R. Wooden Award:

Created in 1976, the John R. Wooden Award is the most prestigious individual honor in college basketball. It is bestowed upon the nation’s best player at an institution of higher education who has proven to his or her university that he or she is making progress toward graduation and maintaining a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.

Around the MWC tonight:
CSU was up 55 to 12 at halftime in FOCO over Nevada. We better sweep Nevada (and csu for that matter).
CSU up by like 53 now. Running up the score without a doubt.

New Mexico taking care of business over AFA in The Pit. Up by about 10 with a few minutes left.
New Mexico may be getting some votes in the next polls. They should be 13-5 next monday. Which would set up big for us, and they are our only next week.

SJSU and Fresno in a tight one in the 1st half in San Jose.

I know Fresno sucked in OOC play, but until they start picking up MWC losses, they are every bit as in this race as we are. Not to mention we struggle to win there.

Tonight is huge for Wyo. And so is this weekend.

Fuck CSU. Trying to win by 60 now. Just humiliating to be a dick. Trying to flex some muscle. Lose to New Mexico and Wyoming and then start a brawl at AFA and now humiliating a team.

The impressive part is doing it without JJ, That is a CSU on the rebound and a dangerous one going forward.

Whatever. You would be extatic if WYO was beating anybody by 60 without our best player.
I hope they and us continue to win out convincingly so when we face them in Laramie, we can squander their hopes and dreams again. And the chase for the reg season conf championship is shown in force through the two rivaled front range schools. It would be great if their only two losses were to us. But only if we continue to win...
I would like to see:
1. WYO
2. CSU
3. SDSU
3. UNM
That would make a convincing argument to possibly have four in the tourney. But each team needs to take care of business, and ours starts again tonight at Fresno.

GO POKES!!!

Aztecs and UNLV in a rejection fest. 39th sell out at viejas, seats 14k. Neither team shooting well, but great action. Makes a difference when Fischer doesn't get 8 days to prepare. Vegas boys +7 at half.

Move CSU to 4-2 and the standings will be updated through 1/17/15.

New Mexico is not that good this year. We should not lose to them at home. The only win they have that even looks decent is at home to CSU and we already took care of CSU on the road and if Nance was healthy we beat them by double digits.

I am not really even scared of them at the PIT this year to be honest.

Boise can also drain the 3 pretty good. We tightened up on them on the perimeter and suffocated them inside in the 2nd half. UNM didn't.

If we were playing at the Pit this week I would agree with that, but NM is pretty injured right now, and given the fact they have another 10 or so MWC games until we play at the Pit, they might be able to figure their stuff out. Not saying they will be better than us by then, just that they have the chance to grow as a team so I am reserving judgement on them for a while.

But, we should definitely get the win against them next week.
Can't wait for it. That and the Top 25 tomorrow morning...
