LOBOS VS. POKES PREDICTIONS!!!

Come on fellas, let's start talking about the next victim on our schedule.....

My prediction. Another cardic Cowboys win in a close battle. Turnovers still scare me, but our AMAZING D will tame another great RB and hold their passing game enough to squeak by. Thunder and Lightning run up a combined 150 yds. and Sween manages the game better as he continues to mature.

LOBOS - 20
POKES - 23

I predict a game similar to last years Air Force game, s get caught off guard

Wyoming 16
New Mexico 28

I hope they could prepare for this offense.. it's not like they don't know what's coming. I just hope NMs back doesn't abuse us like Moore used to. I see the Pokes in a squeaker, but it really could go either way.

I can't believe you guys think this game is going to be this close!
34-10..its homecoming and we smashed a Utah team that was supposed to beat us.
J-Rod, nobody is getting caught off guard for homecoming..this team will be ready for a good RB (whats new..)

This week we get clicking on all cylinders in the first half and don't look back. There won't be any 'playing not to lose' playcalling after last week.. I don't care who the OC is, Glenn won't let that happen again!

I think NM is better than you're giving them credit for. They're bring a VERY good offense and suspect defense to Laramie.. should be a great game.

Special Teams (repeat twice more). Besides NM running, this is what I think it will come down to. Glenn tried to put in the premier players on the Special Team in last game and the result was no better than before. This tells me that the coaching is suspect, and this won't improve before NM. Advantage NM.

trust me, I'm not underestimating them at all. I know how good their RB is (although I'm biased and will say that both of ours, individually, are better)..I know about the young qb they have in Poterie. I've watched a few of their games this year and one of my good friends from home goes to UNM. I'm scared of their Basketball team a lil more than their Football team.
"• Lobos are 2nd in the MWC in total offense (429 ypg); Wyoming is 8th in the nation in total defense (267.8)"
That is the main matchup. I believe we will prevail, just like every other 'high powered' offense we've faced this year...like Boise St..I'm sure they are ranked much much higher for ypg.
I know special teams is a concern..and that bad snap off to the side with that punt resulted in Vinnedge breaking his finger. Vinnedge is good to go. Don't trash our Special Teams just yet, guys...

I think this whole thing will depend on if the Poke try to shoot themselves in the foot again (like last weekend against TCU). I was at laramie for the TCU game and that should not have been as close as it was.

But.....Glenn will have the kinks worked out and i see the Pokes winning by a comfortable margin...

Lobos 14
Pokes 28

A dog.....Mississippi Valley State. Then the week following we go to Minneapolis and play the Gophers (I'll be there).

Miss. Valley St. shouldn't put up too much of a fight.. but the Gophers, I'm expecting a win! You should have beaten them last year. So how's Bisonville feeling about not being #1 this time of year?

I'm I the only one remembering a 27-24 loss on Homecoming by New Mwico last time the LOBOS were in town? I never put anything past Rocky and the Dawgs. They are a dang good team. I'll go with Wyoming winning close. 29-24.

If you exclude the last 8 minute collapse, our defense held TCU to 6 points. UNM brings a much better offense to Laramie. I think 20 is the magic number. I think thats what our offense needs to get to, or exceed to win this matchup. I see UNM putting atleast 2 TD's up. You just can't keep people out of the end zone week after week, and our ST's and offense are almost guaranteed to give them a very short field atleast once, if not more. I say they hang 10 on the defense, and 7 more which arent the D's fault. I see our running attack accounting for 2 long TD drives almost single handedly, and Sween making a few big plays for another. 3 more for WYO off a turnover, and for some reason I feel a safety for this D this week!.... Wyoming 26 New Mexico 17

you're not the only one remembering the homecoming loss 2 years ago to UNM...I just think we have a definitive edge, considering that was the year we lost 7 straight and tanked that season. We did beat them last year at their homecoming and I believe we have a better team this year than we did last year.

We got the #1 ranking in the coaches poll.....I am pretty happy with that.

In a sloppy game (weather forecast is upper 50s and 20-40% chance of rain), I see this game being decided by two factors: 1) Who can hold onto the ball the best? and 2) Who can win the battle in the trenches?
For Wyoming to win, Sween is going to have to severely limit his turnovers, and Glenn and Co. are going to need to call on a lot of 'Thunder and Lightning' to both eat clock and eat yardage, while wearing down the NM defense. I have seen this NM team in person (@ Arizona) and they are really vulnerable against the pass, but I can also see them being vulnerable against a solid running attack.

Prediction: Moore and Seldon run for 280 yds and 2 scores, while Sween plays it safe, finishing 12-20, 180 yds and 1 TD pass to Betschart. The Wyoming defense holds Ferguson to 76 yds rushing and 1 score, while Porterie makes a late flurry and finishes with 235 passing yards and a TD. Wyoming walks away from their Homecoming game victorius, 27-21.

Man it will be interesting... I will be listening on my laptop in the infield of Lowe's Motor Speedway. I am camping out during the NASCAR race on Sat. So if you happen to watch the race Sat. night, look for a WYO POKES flag waving from a bus in the infield. GO WYO!!!!!!!!!
