Great journalism - first of all.

Second - Polasek's interview left me feeling VERY uneasy and worried about the offense. Perhaps he was hedging and checking expectations (which is unnecessary, since none of us have any expectations that his/Bohl's offense will work) but the interview does not exude confidence and strength IMHO.

I completely agree and said the same on Twitter. Cody says he didn't come away feeling the same, but my first impression was exactly the same as yours.

On Peasley, he says "I mean, he's above what we've marked as a standard for completion percentage on a day-to-day."

What does that mean - above 50%? If the standard is 60% we have literally never had a QB under Bohl meet that standard. And some that weren't even close (Peasley last season). More of the same talk about how it takes an entire year to learn the offense. Whatever happens I am glad we don't have to hear that BS excuse again.

I hope Cody is right. Again, maybe it's a hedge, but the sense I got is that Peasley is only marginally better than he was last year, and the offense still sucks. It seems that an emerging excuse is the OL, which is supposed to be Bohl and Polasek's strong suit. As for Grant being able to assemble and coach up a functional WR corps, color me skeptical. He has NEVER fielded anything resembling a D1 WR array. He won't this year either. It is time for him to go. He's had his chance. Polasek should follow him if this year goes how I think it will go offensively this year. And if the D does happen to single-handedly win some games this year on their own, the O shouldn't be given a pass. Wins are great, but don't acquit Polasek, Grant and Crew for being crappy. I know that this is Bohl's scheme and he is ultimately responsible and things won't change until he does (which will never happen) - but Burman ain't firing Bohl, so the only hope we may have is his rearranging of deck chairs on the Titanic might just work once.

Merging this interview together with Bohl's, I can't imagine that Peasley will get to run this year, which is how some of us thought we might have some semblance of offensive production. The back-ups are crummy and undeveloped - so my guess is that they can't risk injury with designed runs. So, here's to a thin, crappy WR corps, half-developed OL and slightly improved Andrew Peasley to bring us to the promised land.

Bohl said that Peasley was ‘exponentially’ better than last year. I will try to find where I saw that. And Bohl has been very positive about the two new receivers. So there’s that…

I’m just trying to stay positive and hopeful. ( stupid and naive of me, I know!)

This is fair. Bohl did say both of these things. My impressions are weighted towards Polasek's interview I guess...and history...lots and lots of history.

We know this team isn't going to light up the scoreboard. But with the defense, it shouldn't need to. What the offense does need to do is sustain drives. I'm hopeful that we will finally utilize the strength of our offense...the tight end position.

Peasley is who he is. He is a serviceable QB who can make plays with his feet if given the opportunity. He needs to avoid turnovers, and, the gameplan needs to provide him with short and relatively easy throws to sustain drives (once again, let's use our tight ends).

When asked how he felt about the team so far his response was " Well, they're working hard. "Ouch! That is what you say when somebody is not getting the job done right. It already feels like this will be a long year.

I’ll withhold judgement until the season starts, and a few games in, in all fairness. I’ll be surprised to see anything new in the offensive scheme.
