I'm guessing Lax didn't know Driskel is the current Florida player. That's why he said the thing about Coffman starting games.

At a certain point we have to stop with the one and done players and let a young guy learn and grow.

They are growing and they are learning Bohls system in the background, That is how it should be done. I'd rather have an experienced QB for one year while other people are learning the scheme then someone who is new and doesn't know the scheme.

True. One is also on our team and one isn't. No sense speculating on players who aren't. We signed a Juco and don't see us adding anymore

CSU basketball seems to be doing fine with this method.
Until last night that is...

Yet they still have been to the Big Dance under their new coach who brings in tons of transfers.

Or Iowa state hoops does the same thing, and they were sweet 16 last year and tourney the last 4 or so. But I think it's tougher to do with transfers consistently in football than basketball.

One example of making transfers work out for football would be Gary Anderson. He had a lot of transfers his last two years at USU. Another one of the reasons he left Wisconsin was the difficulty at getting transfers in to school there.

+1

The Beavers athletic department did a series of interviews with Andersen talking about his coaching, and recruiting and talked quite a bit about transfers.

His main point was that a lot of JUCO kids are good players who might have had academic issues coming out highschool, maturity issues, or being a late bloomer, or having some family issues that prevented them from being a D1 prospect right away.

He talked about how he was a juco kid and how a lot of juco kids have a chip on their shoulder because the 5 star kid has always been told how good he is meanwhile the juco kid is a no-name who has to work his tail off.

It's also often times about finding transfers that are going to be role players and not stars.
Maybe a juco kid isn't going to be the next Cam Newton, but you can definitely find some solid role players... LBs, OLine, etc that can come in and make a difference.

For those following, Driskel is going to LA Tech.

http://espn.go.com/college-football...b-jeff-driskel-finish-louisiana-tech-bulldogs

"Former Florida Gators quarterback Jeff Driskel will play his final season for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, it was made official Monday.

Driskel, who will be a fifth-year senior, will be eligible to play immediately under the NCAA's graduate transfer rule.

More from ESPN.com
No divisional title, no conference title, no national title, and no Heisman. Jeff Driskel certainly didn't end his Florida career the way he began it. Story

"I look forward to the upcoming chapter of my life. I have nothing but good things to say about the University of Florida and the football program there," Driskel said in a statement released by the Gators. "... Although things did not play out on the field as I would have liked, I have no regrets on the choice I made to attend UF."

Driskel led Florida to a 28-20 victory over East Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl on Saturday but was released from his UF scholarship before the game.

He completed 59 percent of his passes for 3,411 yards at Florida, with 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He also ran for 644 yards and nine scores.

Driskel threw for 1,140 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. He battled injuries throughout his career with the Gators.

Driskel, who was rated among the nation's top quarterback prospects out of high school in 2011, joins a Louisiana Tech team coached by Skip Holtz that finished 2014 with a 9-5 record.

The Bulldogs lost in the C-USA championship game to Marshall, but defeated Illinois 35-18 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

The Associated Press contributed to this report."
