Its Bohl!

Huge hire! Bohl will bring us success as long as we give him some time. We may not see success right away because he will have to overhaul the roster, but he will bring us success.

+1 Next season will be a transition....I expect the defense to get much better, but the offense to struggle (talent conflicts with philosophy big time). But I think this will work. Kudos to Burman!

Big win for Burman. Bohl is a homerun hire. If you can have success in Fargo you can certainly bring that mentality to Laramie. I love how tough Bohl's teams play, and I can't wait to see him bring "Cowboy Tough" back to our program!

With all of this Bohl talk, lets not forget that the bigger issue now is landing a good defensive coord.

I am still going to support the hell out of the pokes. I think Burman is an idiot, but i am still going to Oregon next year and laramie a few times. I want him coming to UW knowing he has the support of the state and the best fans in the world. Pack the frickin stadium and let's see what he can do.
I'm sure I'll come around to your current point of view by next season, but right now, after the season we just had, the monkey circus that is UW administration, and the consultants' report, I'm just really bummed that another opportunity to better Wyoming's lot in life appears, to me right now, to have been squandered and sacrificed on the altar of we're just Wyoming, it's good enough. I wish Coach Bohl the best of luck, but right now, it's just more of the same old shit.

Great post, by the way.

How is this different than the Joe Glenn homerun hire?

Just saw a tweet from the ndsu qb. "Please let this be a joke". So I'm guessing he will not coach the Bison the rest of the season. Was the "I have no interest in Wyoming" just smoke and mirrors?

Glenn had zero experience in any capacity at the FBS level.

It sure looks like it. Hell of a smoke screen.

Exact same as Peterson not wanting to go to Washington was.

Whenever a coach says he has no interest or a team says they aren't moving to a new conference it means exactly the opposite.

Mike Vorel ‏@mikevorel 7m

Source who talked with two members of Bohl's staff at North Dakota State called it a "done deal." #gowyo

Agree 100%. Tedford or Bohl were the only 2 candidates i believed in to resurrect this program.

Jesus people. Really? Most people think Wyoming just got a major steal. Hell some people are laughing at Bohl because he's going "backwards" in their opinion. This is a big get.

Yes of course its not a given he'll be great, but you can't find a better fit for Wyoming IMO.

+1000

Absolutely correct. Tedford would have been more if a stretch for me. Bohl has had his success recruiting to a school that is very similar to Wyoming. Recruiting at the FBS level will be different for him an that will be the key. But I have a very good feeling. I'm very excited that it's Bohl!!! Tedford seemed more risky. I still can't stand burman and the BOT

We were all excited about Joe Glenn as well and see what happened. I saw on the other board that a reporter in Fargo asked Bohl about the Wyoming job and he said, "no comment". They then asked the AD at N.D. St. and he said "that's news to me. Nobody has contacted me.". I don't know, but if no one has contacted the AD at N.D. St. about talking to his HC that is a huge issue and I am surprised that Tom Burman would contact a coach without getting permission first from his AD! Not saying that Bohl isn't the new HC, but if what the AD at N.D. St. said is true that puts some things into question.

I am surprised that you would say that Tedford is more a of stretch for you when he has recruited at a higher level than Wyoming and has a ton of great contacts for some of the best talent possible that we would find in California. Bohl on the other hand has never had to recruit at the level that Wyoming plays at as a HC and so he is going to have to up his recruiting IMMEDIATELY, can he do this? That is more of a stretch than Tedford in my book. Yes, Bohl has had to recruit to a place very similar to Laramie, but he was also going after lesser talent. I am much less sure about Bohl than I am about Tedford.......I am still hoping that these guys aren't right. I haven't heard anything from Vorel as yet and his info I trust more.

I agree with your points about the AD at ndsu not being contacted. That certainly raises red flags. Either Bohl is not the guy or Burman was a snake and went straight to the coach without contacting the AD which is a major no-no in hiring coaches. Or there is a third option. The Ndsu AD is playing dumb.

Bohl has plenty of D1 experience. Just not as a head coach. Yes he has only really proven his recruiting abilities at the FCS level, but his FCS talent is better than our FBS talent. And you are missing something very important. Bohl now has a university that has incredible facilities. A beautiful stadium. And hopefully Butman gives him a true recruiting budget that will help him continue to have success at the FBS level. Recruiting is all about convincing a kid to buy into you as a coach and the resources you have at your disposal. I am not trying to toot my horn, but I am a college coach. I coach cross country and in the 5 years that I have been at this school my team has gone from 18th in our region to finishing 6th at the NCAA championships this past fall. I know a little bit about the topic. Go pokes!

Craig Bohl is the head coach at The University Of Wyoming.

I was thinking today, if Mike Vorel could see fit to join us in this underdog terrain...then why not Craig Bohl?

Tonight...God loves the state of Wyoming.

Conceded: Bohl has FBS assistant coaching experience didn't.

I still wish we had an AD and administration that thought bigger. Best of luck to Coach Bohl. Go 'Pokes!

Last year, NDSU beat out Pitt for a DT prospect, and this year had commitments from players with offers from Pitt and Rutgers. I don't think you have to worry about Bohl recruiting, although I think he will find it much more difficult to get kids to go to Laramie than Fargo. I'm not sure how willing the MN and WI recruits that he has gone after in the past will be to leave the midwest.

non-aq schools like those in the mountain west or mac recruit the exact same players that top FCS conferences do.

On the other hand, every NDSU coach that has been hired away has run that program into the ground.

its up to 54 news sources on google that are reporting CBS's story. I really thought we were going to hire Stu Pidasso. I am almost ready to believe.
