My statement stands. No crow to eat. SDSU stated, via letter, it intends to leave and will. It’s still a matter of time. How do you not get that? They’ve communicated it. If you think I lost the bet, I’ll honor my word. Give me an address.

Every team intends to leave for a better deal. Just take the L

The Title of the post doesn’t list “every team”. It very specifically lists SDSU.

And if reading comprehension is a problem, I stated I’d honor my word. I won’t take it as a loss. I will honor my word.

Looks like SDSU will stay for now. Everyone seems to waiting until the PAC 10 TV contract and reconfiguration is done before making any moves. I still am stunned the Big 12 is letting BYU in. I would have bet anything they were pushing hard to get into the PAC 10.

I can answer that question....Cal & Stanford hates BYU's guts!!!!!!!!!!!!! So...PAC-XX wasn't in BYU's future.

So do we. My question is more toward why would anyone in the Big 12 want them?

My guess...Big XII loves having a bully in the conference to bitch about. Hence, why they put up with Texas for so damned long.

This is the exact reason I don't make bets (and didn't take it here) over stuff like this. People have a habit of moving the goalpoasts (no pun intended).

The original assertion was that SDSU to the PAC12 was, at the moment, "official". (Based on the SDSU AD telling some folks at a random athletic meet in Texas that it was "all but assured", but I digress).

-The PAC 12 never officially invited, or announced the invitation of, SDSU
-The school never officially announced they were moving to the PAC12
-The school didn't notify the MWC of their intent to move at all until literally months later, and even that is now being hotly and legally debated, with SDSU themselves claiming the letter did not signify "official" notice of resignation. It also certainly didn't give any confirmation of what their end destination would be).

SDSU to the PAC was not "official" at that point, and still isn't. Period.

While I stated I thought it was likely (and I still believe it's likely in the future), my entire point was that it wasn't a done deal. I specifically made the point that there were a lot of moving parts and things that could go wrong....which they did.

When SDSU joins the PAC12 in 2026 I suppose you'll claim some sort of victory, in spite of the fact that that wasn't the actual bet, nor was them "not joining ever" the assertion anyone was making.

Edit: Funnily enough, as of this evening the MWC just announced it will officially not be removing SDSU as originally intended.

SDSU is in the MWC for at least one more year.

I'm wondering if something bigger is brewing. It just seems really odd that the pac doesn't have a tv deal done and won't have one done to announce at their media week.

It almost looks like everything was about set and suds was a go then something changed or someone got cold feet (or swooned by another conference).

Maybe it really is just business that takes time and a solid tv deal is near? I don't know.

Starting to wonder if Disney's comment about partnering for the espn content somehow impacted the PAC12 TV deal. Maybe the potential partner is the same partner negotiating with the PAC12 which might explain how ESPN got back into the fold?

I said I would honor my word. What a moron. I didn’t move the goalpost. Do you need affirmation so badly, so you can say “I’m right”? Really. There is affirmation coaches who can help with your low self esteem if that’s the case. I’m done answering your need to say I’m right on this. And I’ll honor my bet.

Yes, and the ceo of Disney discussed taking on partner for espn which just came out this summer. Maybe the potential partner is a network in negotiations with the pac which would bring espn back into the mix. Just speculation.

Either way. Weird that no PAC tv deal is done yet.

Honestly, outside of Wyoming, what does everybody here really "tune in" to see? Nobody really gives a chit about Oregon State vs. Arizona, or Washington vs. Cal. Or a plethora of other match ups not named Washington vs. Oregon. Surely TV execs are looking at this the same way, no?

I'm probably in the minority of the college football viewers in that I do watch a lot of teams outside of my primary rooting interest. I enjoy all of the high profile and rivalry matchups but tend to tune out if it's a blow out.

Appears you're right. If this is true, the pac is finished...

I'm similar. I'll tune in to mostly MACtion, Sun Belt, C-USA, and MWC games that look like they'll be good games, but tune out if they are a blow-out. Otherwise, I tend to watch any game that is close, even if it is Bama-OSU :P
