Injuries?

Could also see Jones back at CB. Wasn't he #1 on the depth chart before getting hurt during fall camp?
Did he get hurt, or did he just get burned too often? I seem to recall that his man coverage wasn't up to par with the other corners, which is why they moved him to safety.

Not sure about his coverage skills, but remember him being a big hitter.

I am afraid what is going to happen when Wyoming faces a team that slings the ball around. We aren't very good in the secondary. the scout team is able to pick the number 1 defense apart almost on a daily basis.........now we are down one more corner??????

Agree - hence my statement about how the DB's weren't tested against Nebraska.

Looking at the schedule, teams that like to pass more than run include everyone except New Mexico and Howdy Doody. Will be interesting to see what Chris Tormey (safeties) and Renaldo Hill (cornerbacks) come up with.

Southwick at BSU and Dingwell at SDSU are not exactly great pocket passers.

Keeton and Carr are really the only ones who looked like real passing threats in week one. The sheep only got the points they did because of special teams. Not to mention its still hard to say where CU stands this year. Actually, that goes for a lot of them. Fales at SJSU had 50% completion for 220 yards or so against FCS. Last year he leds FBS with completion in the high 70%s.

Hawaii just has a horrible QB. Nuff said there. UNLV seems to have a decent QB, but hard to say, considering the opponent was Minnesota. UNR seems to have taken a step back offense wise since Ault retired, but considering how good UCLA was last year, its hard to guage that. Fresno, yeah, Carr's a damn good pocket passer. And Keeton is to USU what Smith is to us. Dingwell got a bunch of yards, but also a bunch of ints. Southwick, well, I was never really impressed with him as a QB and knew he was overrated coming into this season. And it showed against Washington. Who showed last year that they can win and lose against anybody. They beat Stanford, but lost to WSU.

I disagree with this assertion. I thought we were respectable against the pass during the Nebraska game even though we had to be lining up to stop run. Most the TD passes were just freaky catches thar couldn't have been played much better by a DB

Nebraska and the BIG 10 in particular is not know for the ability to pick people apart with the pass. Don't get me wrong they have great teams just not ones that operate out of the spread consistently. I hope I am wrong but considering what our scout team does to the number one defense.....well it is scary. Our DB's struggle to defend the pass when it is the mainstay of an offense.

Trudat.

Minus Finley, safety blitzes are going to be risky. We really need to be kind of shifty and the d-line needs to own the LOS. I really hope Puletasi is 100% as the buck position will be crucial to both containment and pressure if we need to keep the safeties in the backfield. Looking at Idaho QB Chalich's game last week, he's not much of a deep threat though.

Both UNT and Idaho were penalized for over 74 yards and Idaho had 3 fumbles lost vs 2 turnovers by UNT. Long and short of it- UNT was no defensive juggernaut from the looks of things. Idaho kept shooting themselves in the foot and while he made some good plays early, UNT got into Chalich's head. His productivity fell right off the chart in the 2nd half. He's a true freshman, as is their number one tailback. A Wyoming defensive presence in their offensive backfield and at the line will rattle them very quickly, but we need to shut down the 6-10 yard passes right away to steal their wind.
