Look at Dave's W/L vs teams with a .500 or better record and that'll give you all the indication you need as to why he was let go (among other things).
Against who and their records?Slow Hand said:Only 18/39 times did we fail to put up 14 points or more in DC's career at Wyoming. After taking a quick look at the scores it seems like to me we lit a lot of bulbs on the score board in his time here! Shut out 6 times and four of those were his first year.
One difference being Bohl didn't lose to an FCS program three years in.marcuswyo said:Look at Dave's W/L vs teams with a .500 or better record and that'll give you all the indication you need as to why he was let go (among other things).
Is it better than Bohl's?
They are both winners in my book. Both have the great distinction of losing to d2 schools.
Look, the differences between Bohl, Dickface, and their circumstances is pretty vast. Their philosophies are different, their personalities are different, their execution of the position is different, and the circumstances they walked into are different. The only quantity known is Dickface's record and impact. Bohl's is yet to be determined. No one on this board is truly qualified to somehow predict the end result of Bohl's tenure- it's unwritten. Dickface made his bed, slept in it, some would say even sh-t in it, and all he wanted to do was not wash the sheets nor admit it was funky. If Dave f'kin' Christensen was qualified to be a head coach, he'd have a job as one. His execution of the position here showed everyone in CFB that he wasn't one.
Look, when no less than Dennis Ersickson, no prince himself, says you're an a--hole, well, you've probably got some serious issues.

First, he quite obviously did a poor job of vetting Dickface and, from what I can see, elucidating genuine responses during the interview process, especially regarding character and personality. Most organizations strive for a 49/ 51 hiring criteria- 49% skills and experience, 51% character and personality. Motivating and coaching can be taught and learned. Honesty and integrity, while not quite intrinsic, spring from a lifetime of nature and nurture.
Second, if anyone who worked for me came to me and said, "Look, we could do it the tried and true way, but it's going to make getting the resources more difficult. If we do it this way, however, we don't need the quality of resources the other way requires and it makes the job of resourcing easier," I'd be looking for someone else. Basically they're telling me a key part of their job is too hard, so if I agree to change my vision for the enterprise, then he can produce something that might resemble success, so long as you don't analyze it too much. The best example of this was Dickface's highest quality win came against, wait for it... Air Force. Glenn managed to get wins against Tennessee and Ole Miss' on their home turf and wins against UVA and Ole Miss' in Laramie.
As far as "Spread" vs. West Coast, here's a great read on the Spread philosophy, what it really is in play, and the results based on some pretty solid criteria...

"If we can't recruit to a standard offense like the west coast, and with the rise of the spread amongst P5 schools, we may as well only recruit for the triple option offense since only a handful of schools use it."Slow Hand said:laxwyo said:Basically you're saying we can't recruit well enough so we should be running the spread when really we should be running the triple option.
Huh?
It was in response to the "oh we can't recruit the guys we need for this position" than an actual suggestion.mwc fan said:I hate the triple option. Also hate when we play against it. Running the ball 90% of the time takes the excitement out of the game. My own opinion though.
