Hunter Thompson

I just got goose bumps

Then he says "I got chills".

Sounds like the kid is having withdrawal or something. Is he on drugs or does he just get chills easily.

What a Weenie.

He's not Poke material anyway. He doesn't deserve to wear the Brown and Gold.

I know that Creighton has a basketball rep and it's because they're always going back to the dance....to do absolutely nothing. Last sweet 16 was 1974. And three total.
It's not like Wyoming has some storied history of going on deep runs in the tournament, either. But it would be nice to see one of these kids step up to the challenge of turning this program around. I've said it before and I say it again. If the team starts winning consistently at home again, the fans will come. Losing to Fort Lewis at home (I don't care if it was an exhibition game) signed a death warrant for home attendance for this year.

The post was more to highlight Creighton's supposed storied basketball history. It's not like hunter just shit in our mouth for a Duke or someone else. He just shit on us for a perennial tournament team that does jack shit. Wyoming has been to the sweet 16 more recent than Creighton.

"I wish Wyoming parents would talk to my wife and I about their kids playing for The Cowboys. The opportunities and love are endless."

This was the comment from JMac's Dad on his twitter account i just saw on WyoSports.net He also said Jason would have come to UW if he had 20 offers. I love those kind of comments!

This makes me like Jmac all the more.

I guess some are Cowboys and some are not. I'm a fan of those that are Cowboys and not a fan of the nots.

In the last decade, we are 0-1, Creighton is 3-4 in the Dance

I've got a cousin whose favorite team is the one winning at that time. That's a hell of a way to live.

You're either a poke or you're not.

Maybe fail miserably is too strong. And if this isn't true, I would still want him to be a Poke. My problem is with Wyoming kids showing no loyalty. My allegiance is to the University of Wyoming...not a Wyoming high school kid. So, when a Wyoming kid goes elsewhere, when they know what they could do for the home state team....just rubs me the wrong way.
I have similar feelings. How is it that not one of these Wyoming kids have no pride in their home state or loyalty. Not the cloth I was cut from.
I bet the Talich boys would be pissed. For those who don't know. the Talich brothers were very good football players from Pine Bluff. Loyal to their home state......and people remember who they are.

State loyalty--says the guy who can't tell Wyoming from Arkansas. It is Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. (Apparently there is only one bluff in Arkansas.)

Did anyone else notice that he was quoted as liking the idea of playing in front of 15,000 people every game? I remember when Creighton had a small gym and the A-A at U.W. seated 15,000. Everyone here has been bragging how reducing capacity to 10,000 will enhance recruiting compared to the limited possibilities that result from a larger arena.

At the end of the day, Pine Bluffs is much more similar to Nebraska than it is to Laramie and the rest of Wyoming. I can't blame him for wanting to try out Omaha. He will get the city experience while surrounded by people who come from towns that are very similar to Pine Bluffs.

Besides, doesn't Creighton play in the Big East now with the other urban Catholic schools?

Because it is a really big deal when Wyoming loses on an in-state kid to a comparable program. He was down to U.W. and the program that beat us out.

This is a much bigger deal than whether we win or lose on a player from Florida or California because we had the inside track and didn't maintain our advantage. Therefore we should be assessing where our vulnerabilities are. On a related note, did anyone else notice another former Wyoming 2A High School star playing for another team in the Big Dance earlier today?

I think that there are more players with D-1 potential in Wyoming than some on this board like to admit. It doesn't look good if we miss out on more of them than we land.

Comparable program? You can't be serious. In Hunter's 6 years of middle/high school ball, we are 108-90, 40-60 in conference play, with 1 tournament appearance. Over the same time, Creighton is 140-71, 64-46 in conference, with 3 appearances with a W each time, and averaging double the attendance.

Wyoming kids are more likely to have a longer memory than kids who probably watch and listen to other schools while in elementary. That said, Creighton was a Missouri Valley school just a couple years ago. Even with the better basketball history, they are still in the shadow of Nebraska-Lincoln and Iowa State. They are not over our head.

I will say that the "good riddance" attitude on this board is toxic for our ability to recruit. If we can't do some serious self-examination and continue to blame coaches and players without asking ourselves about our own institution we will never get over the hump.

Recruiting decisions are more complex than simply picking which team had the better record over the last 4 years. Plenty of coaches in the MWC including Musselman, Leon Rice, Eustachy, etc. have been able to sign players who also had offers from schools with better recent records. How has Nevada done over the last 6 years?

I realize your post is basically just contesting the comparable program comment, which is fair as we are not a comparable program anymore. However, the implication I read into that is that we shouldn't expect to compete with Creighton for recruits. The teams that move up in the MWC have been able to recruit above their current success level. It is not impossible.

Not nearly as toxic as the "we suck" attitude that is more prevalent on this board. The vast majority of fan message boards fall prey to the sour grapes posts when they lose a recruit. What makes Wyoming unique is that while most message boards fall into two camps in those scenarios ("It's the kids decision, we can't begrudge him" vs. "He sucks anyway"), Wyoming adds a new dimension of "we suck so bad, no wonder he didn't want to play here, who would ever want to play here". I would say that dimension is far more damaging to recruiting than anything else.

The Big East really isn't much of a step up than the MWC imo, but let him go see it and be who he wants to try to be, I really think he'd help us here much more so than out there, but maybe I'll be wrong, remember it's a verbal and anything can change, I'm bummed just as well, but make a name for yourself HT we'll keep an eye on you, we think being a Cowboy is much better than a Bluejay, LOL, and yes I agree, coming from 2A in little ol Wyoming, is one heck of a jump, redshirt should be a no brainer, where as I think at UW he coulda stepped right in, just sayin

Hahaha, are you serious? The MWC was a one-bid conference, who's only team that got in was FRESNO STATE at a 14 seed. Not to mention the fact that your last sentence completely contradicts your first sentence. If it's not that big of a difference, why would he need to redshirt? It sounds like a lot of you guys need to be honest with yourselves about what type of program you have over at Wyoming. You had one good season where you had an NBA player and now you think you can compete with the Big East? Alrighty then.

Wow 1 post and u run this forum, just my take. Thanx again English major, keep lovin your sheep in foco, still mad he didn't verbal there instead, smh
