Hunter Thompson

Geez sour grapes much?...just because a kid goes to high school here means he has to play here? If Thompson was from anywhere else wyo has exactly ZERO shot at signing him. We need to take a long look in the mirror and honestly assess where we are in the college basketball landscape as it pertains to recruiting.
Completely disagree with this. Wyoming has signed better players than the kid from Pine Bluffs.

I'm disappointed, but it could be worse. He could have drawn this out and wasted our resources. This leaves us an opportunity to find a better fit.

Very good point.

Bigby Williams would make a bigger impact for this program. 19 and 20 in the 1st game. Final 4 now; about to win a juco natty for Gillette college

The Big East really isn't much of a step up than the MWC imo, but let him go see it and be who he wants to try to be, I really think he'd help us here much more so than out there, but maybe I'll be wrong, remember it's a verbal and anything can change, I'm bummed just as well, but make a name for yourself HT we'll keep an eye on you, we think being a Cowboy is much better than a Bluejay, LOL, and yes I agree, coming from 2A in little ol Wyoming, is one heck of a jump, redshirt should be a no brainer, where as I think at UW he coulda stepped right in, just sayin

srsly??...coming out of high school?...i'm not a wyo bbal recruiting historian but i'm guessing that as far as recruits go thompson is easily one of the better ones that wyoming has had a legitamate shot at signing.

This is all potential though...if recruiting ratings were more accurate guys like Nance, Bailey, Davis, Adams, and other Wyo greats get more highly recruited by bigger schools...and the flip side is the long list of nobodies that are highly recruited and flame out at basketball factory schools.

Hahaha, are you serious? The MWC was a one-bid conference, who's only team that got in was FRESNO STATE at a 14 seed. Not to mention the fact that your last sentence completely contradicts your first sentence. If it's not that big of a difference, why would he need to redshirt? It sounds like a lot of you guys need to be honest with yourselves about what type of program you have over at Wyoming. You had one good season where you had an NBA player and now you think you can compete with the Big East? Alrighty then.

I've never met a Wyo. alum. who didn't love their time at the school. That said, who stays in Laramie after they graduate? Omaha has nearly 3/4 of a million people and a lot fortune 500 companies located there. A lot of factors go into choosing a school. The basketball may have been a small factor in the equation. But to wish bad fortune on a kid because he doesn't choose your school is just pathetic.

About your last sentence....what if the kid (or any kid) were to decide to go to BYU rather than Wyoming? In my mind, that's treason! As far as I know that scenario hasn't happened but still...

I think Wyoming has an attitude problem. I know lots of "Wyoming fans" that do nothing but talk shit about how much we suck. We should talk about how to get better instead of how much we suck. I wouldn't be surprised if there was plenty of people around hunter talking shit about Wyoming. UW is a fine school

Well, I'm old enough to remember our rivalry with byu. But high school kids now may never have seen us play them in any sport. We may never play them again, for that matter. The times...they are a changing. I can't say I ever felt any animosity to a Wyo. kid who didn't go here. The only time I really felt betrayed was when Brandenberg went to San Diego state.

Have you ever been to Omaha let alone Creighton? The suburbs are nice but there are a lot of areas in the city that are rough and not a place I would want to live. Creighton is in one of the rough areas that I personally would never want to live in. Omaha is going to be quite the large change from Pine Bluffs.

Maybe it has something about these assholes in the house and senate talking about dropping to D2 and cutting all the athletics funds. Maybe these bitches should just shut up and stop sabotaging recruiting efforts.

Yeah. No joke. Omaha. Whoo freakin hoo. I see absolutely zero advantages to living in the Midwest unless you are a farmer.

Wyoming is a great school and you could have every opportunity in life the same as if you went to Creighton. Hunter blew it imo, BUT he could still change his mind.

I have. I've seen some of the sketchy areas of Omaha. My friend's daughter went to Creighton. Of course it will be a big change. Maybe that's a good thing.
