How many yards would Hill need to break Pumphrey's MWC record.

Maybe that would be a reason for Hill to stay. Shut up Pumphrey and set the NCAA record to boot.

Our line is going to maul people next year.

I have it on pretty good source/terms that Hill, assuming he gets a semi decent evaluation/projection from the Draft Committee, is that he will move on and enter the draft. And you cant blame the kid one bit. There is a very short shelf life on NFL RBs and Brian has had his fair share of tread on the tires in his college career.

he is over 2,000 yards short of Pump... long shot to pass him if he comes back, but he would have a really good shot at over 5K and not many can say that

I've thought that all year.

Still, is it possible he could set the NCAA record for rushing yards, the MWC record for rushing yards....

That and a dominant team next year might be reason enough for Hill to stay.

Right now, most of the "experts" have him going in the 5th to 7th round in 2018. I would venture to say going out early in 2017 might be a bad move. I wouldn't blame him for trying to go early, like Brett did (we all saw how well that worked for him), but I think another year under Bohl would do wonders for him - maybe use him more on screens, etc. giving him more development for the next level and actually improve his draft stock for 2018.

Depends on how many yards they both finish the season with.

Pumphrey is currently at 6,127
Brian Hill is currently at 3,975

Probably not happening....

As it stands, he's 2152 behind Pumphrey. If he doesn't fall any further behind this season, that means he needs to average 179 yards per game without a MWC championship game appearance next year or 165 with one.

That would be difficult, but not impossible.

Damn, there goes that theory.

Maybe he'll just stay for the love of all things Brown and Gold and the desire to play on a team that has a chance to dominate next year.

I still think he's gone.

Do bowl games count towards all this? How many more games is pumphrey averaging? At least one a year I'd imagine

I thought I heard that bowl games don't count during the game broadcast. Either Ricky Williams or Ron Dane would be in the lead if they added bowl yardage, or some such nonsense. They discussed it though and I don't think bowl yardage counts.

But championship games do. So pumphrey has one more last year and the year before?

The year before was Fresneck I think, but SDSU was definitely in it last year, when they packed a whopping 20,000 fans in for AFA.

Bowl games count now, but they didn't used to until about 10 years ago if I remember correctly. Thats what makes seasons like Barry Sanders senior year that much more impressive, only played 11 regular season games and his utter domination of us in the Holiday Bowl didn't count.

If all the backs that are expected declare for the draft do so. Hill would be making a monumental mistake.

Going into the same draft with 5-7 top rated backs just isn't smart at all.

What experts have said that? The scout in the story I just read said mid round projections. That's 3th-5th round. Hills stock is skyrocketing this season and his pass protection bumps him over a lot of backs you think are better than him. I.E. David Johnson going in the 3rd round.

20k isn't bad. I guarantee you we won't even come close to that if we win at UNM and host the title game. 15k would be my guess. Obviously they have like 4x as many students and 100x the local population, but still when it comes to attendance any criticism from Wyoming fans falls under the category of glass houses.

what on god's green earth makes you think we wouldn't eclipse 15k for a home conference championship in a year that we've averaged over 20k?

I too think we'd be lucky to get 15K. I hope we get to find out but I don't have high hopes for attendance.

Most of the hotels in Laramie seem to already be sold out for Dec 3rd.

Unfortunately - these factors come into play and will largely effect attendance:

1. Game is on national TV (ESPN - not 2, not U, not 3, not the ocho, THE ESPN)
2. Weather is supposed to be high of 28 that day, kick off, more like 20, windchill...eh...10?
3. 5:45pm Kick off time, eliminate most from more than 2 hours away
4. We have a repeat game that only drew 18k the first time, 2 weeks prior

I am sure those are also the reasons why MWC offices lobbied hard for the referee performance to go the way it went last Saturday.

That doesn't really say much. I'll stand by that prediction. I've been fooled too many times into believing we have some kind of sleeping giant fan base.
