Reading up on GWU, found some interesting facts and stats in their game notes....
-They have a player from Chaparral HS in Parker, CO (starting center Brandon Leahey - Eastern Michigan transfer)
-Farthest trip west for Gardner-Webb since a September 6, 2003 visit to Montana State
-This is GWU’s first road trip west of the Mississippi River since visiting Sam Houston State in Huntsville,
Texas, on September 25, 2010.
-Gardner-Webb is 1-12 all-time vs. FBS programs. The lone win came in a 38-37 overtime thriller at Akron on September 11, 2010.
-Gardner-Webb is 6-14 in its last 20 road games, dating back to the 2013 season.
-Gardner-Webb’s 45-3 loss in the season opener to No. 25 North Carolina A&T marked the worst loss in the first game of a season in 25 years.
-Senior quarterback Tyrell Maxwell (6-2, 231) passed for 1,657 yards and 9 scores and rushed for 965 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2016.
-Against NC A&T, Maxwell had just 11 rushing yards and just 45 yards of total offense.

Interesting stuff. I had honestly not heard of Gardner-Webb having a football team until they showed up on the schedule. I think we played them in basketball a few years back.

Looks like they've got a QB that can run which is something we really struggled with last year. It will be interesting to see hazelton's game plan and what corrections have been made.
